1. that's a pretty miserable list, but I chose John Tyler for one reason

If he hadn't been strong and asserted leadership after Harrison's death it would have set a precedent of a weakened executive. Tyler was the first VP to become president upon the death of the chief executive and at the first cabinet meeting the Sec of State pretty much told him that he would be a figurehead and that decisions would be made according to majority rule from the cabinet. Tyler told them in effect they could either join him or leave.
