Gene Krupa is still an idol for a lot of drummers.

6. Actually listening to Duke Ellington right now.
"Black Beauty"...raised by my grandmother, she's of the Greatest Generation, so I grew up listening to the best. I love it all from 1920's on up til WWII.

10. I'm not a freak, but I like it.
As well as jazz and folk music...

I don't get obsessed by music the way many people do, but I like it all.

13. So are my grandparents.
;)

Seriously, though, I've been to a couple of swing dances that the college puts on, and I never had more fun than I did at those dances. I'll be damned if I could tell you who exactly had performed the music, but it was definitely some good stuff; easy to dance to, I could never understand how anyone could listen to it and NOT be compelled to dance.

15. I adore the bands of Maynard Ferguson and Les and Larry Elgart.
People who have not seen, heard and felt the beauty and power of a (Professional) Big Band truly don't know what they're missing.

16. I love big bands, had tons of 78's of them
but sold them all last year.

Have you seen the Brian Setzer Orchestra?

Nothing rocks like a horn section!

17. I am a big band fan
But I am a Band Geek- I play in Concert Band at school, pep band, Marching Band, and Jazz/Swing Band. I also play in a ska band outside of school.

I also LOVE George Gershwin music.

18. I love that type of music
I don't claim to know the artists or particular songs for the most part but I really like the music. But then, I like many kinds of music - I was raised with a hodgepodge of musical styles. My dad is a devotee of the old style country and bluegrass, both of which I love (not the new pop influenced country but the old stuff). My mom loved big band music as well as the crooners. I have five older siblings who listened to a range of music which got me into stuff as diverse as Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkle. And my aunt used to take me to the symphony so I got some classical in there as well.

I don't much care for polka but I'm open to about anything musically.

19. Mexican Polka!
AM 630 kicks ass. I hate regular polka, but when it is Mexican I love it.
