Why I joined DU

It's pretty simple, I hate republicans.

I came here a few years ago because I wanted to be with like minded folks who hate the fuck out of republicans too.

Right before I found DU, I used to cause utter havoc on the Yahoo message forum, smacking down as many brain donor, kool aid drinking Bush-lickers that ever had the misfortune of crossing my path.

Ah, those were the good old days.

Now, I'm usually not the kind of guy that would post a high-minded expose' that would fight its way to the top page, and I'm still not.

That's too much freaking work.

Instead, DU is my quiet place away from a chimp conquered world, where I can hang out with a bunch of good folks that actually have a clue and have a little fun.

I love you guys.

Anyways, I just wanted to say I joined DU because I wanted a place that I could call home and party a little bit. Besides, if I were constantly putting together hard hitting posts about the state of affairs today, that would mean that I was pretty pissed off at something.

Believe you me, nobody wants to see me pissed off.

And after these last few years with your guys, I just want to say that you guys are a hell of a lot of fun and there's no other place else than DU that I could call home.

1. That's a lot like the reason I joined DU

I used to read the Fray (Slate's message board), and it was beat up with freepers. The smug freepers, no less-the ones that think that every word that drools out of their twisted mouths is inspired by God himself. I got so fed up with the assumption they all had that they were the only ones allowed to be right, that I leftthe board permanently. Then I started reading DU, and began finding out information from discussions and editorials that isn't reported on MSN, and it convinced me even more to stay.

3. I'm just surrounded by Republicans.

Not my family so much (they're quite liberal), but the area I live in is very wealthy and "religious," and though I usually just grit my teeth when they go on their inaccurate, uneducated rants, I found that I need a place to vent and be with people who think like I do. DU is that place, and I'm very thankful for it.

14. I Joined DU in September of 2001....

...because I was fed up with the bone-headed, ignorant conservatives and dittoheads I found myself battling with on sites like "Rush vs Reality" and the old Fox News chat rooms. I actually started using the "CO Liberal" handle on the Fox News site, and continued using it on other sites because it pissed off the conservatives so much.

Once I discovered DU (by following a link from www.hated.com), I never went back to any of those other sites.

I finally found what I was looking for. I'm very comfortable, and people are so very nice. I've had a very rough year medically, and I need the comfort of DU. Thank you all!!!! :loveya:

Not to knock the serious pundits/discussion groups or those who have the mindshare/free time to mount a serious blog, that ain't me babe.

Also because flame wars are rare here, the vindictiveness is generally focused on the enemy rather than each other.

And the occasional silliness. I even like all the damn cats.

DU's sorta like life. Damn serious, while acknowledging that you can't keep your adrenaline throttle held to the floor all the time.

21. Needed to vent publicly

after the impeachment and stolen election I was about to implode. I searched the net for a board I could express my dismay on and found DU. Ended up making many friends. It's been a long time now.

I first came here as my job took only a small portion of my day, and I had an internet connection.

Now I'm hooked, unfortunately my job takes up more of my day than before. :mad:

I used to wreak havoc over at the Washington Dispatch boards, which were overrun by stupid freepers who were convinced they were right and anyone with a dissenting opinion must be a moonbat lefty liberal. It wasn't too difficult to knock them down a few pegs with Freeper Kryptonite (aka: facts), but finding DU was like finding the Promised Land. I absolutely love this place.
