What do you take on an airplane ride?
I'm going non-stop from D.C. to Long Beach.

I'm thinking:
- water
- nuts
- fruit
- reading material

What do you take?

... how "buzzed" you appear to be (or smell) could interrupt your flight plans.

5. Not much
Water, walkman, book and anti-nauseants. I usually fall asleep within 20 mins of being on a plane - I think it's the anti-nauseants. Otherwise :puke:

9. book(s), ipod, water and snacks
I fly to the UK from MN often and I can't live without the above.

I sometimes bring one of those cool neck pillows especially made for travel if I think I'm gonna catch some zzzzs.

Taking easy to read, fast-paced books on long flights make it go faster, I think. I like stuff by Grisham, Crichton, King, Vince Flynn, Pratchett etc. Personally, I've tried to read books other then simple mind candy and I have trouble staying focused. IMHO.

37. Global Positioning System.
They are quite small now, you can buy them for hiking, flying, etc. Most of them have moving map displays. If you bring it on an airplane you can tell exactly where you are and how fast you're going, just for your amusement.

13. Music, magazines, chewing gum.
Sometimes I take a book, but sometimes my attention span isn't long enough for a book, so I read magazines of different subjects instead.

Music, something to serve as a pillow (either a pillow, a sweatshirt, whatever), a change of undergarments in case yours don't make it at the same time you do (socks, also), any meds you might need (same reason), contact lens case if applicable, and deodorant. Have a good trip! :)

24. You've got it pretty well down
Snacky food, nuts & dried fruit, something sweet
Water
An airplane book (as opposed to serious literature)
Include in a small carry-on a change of underwear and basic grooming stuff. Luggage gets lost.

Gonna do almost the same thing in March. Unfortunately there is no non-stop to Richmond. I have to transfer somewhere. Yuk.

29. Transfers Are The BEST!!!
I love transfers...the more the better!

Sincerely!

First, as a smoker...transfers usually give me a chance to drag my poor, drug-addicted ass out and get some nicotine...and secondly...I like short flights because they are in smaller planes, with less jet fuel...and thus are less attractive to any terrorists with wise ideas.

When I die, I want it to be in a way that doesn't involve me winding up as mucilage on the side of a building, or augering into a cornfield at 600 MPH, thank you very much!

26. I Take The Following:
Gum
Mints (preferably Altoids)
Bottled Water
A Puzzle Book (preferably Fill-Ins)

Need the gum to pop your ears once you get up to altitude, and then again, on the way down. gum seems to help my ears pop a lot quicker. It's about the only time I ever even chew gum, is when I'm on a plane.

27. All that, + the change of underwear, AND a wet washcloth in a ziplock
I also carry a toothbrush and toothpaste. And on a long flight, one of those little wipe things can be handy.

But the wet washcloth is the real key, at least for me - my face gets dirty, and oily, and feels icky, so the washcloth can be used to wipe the face off. And if you store with an ice block, it's cold, and also then very refreshing!

I couldn't travel without a cold washcloth.

I use them on hikes, too, and even long car rides.

35. books, a sack lunch from a food stand in the airport since
our airport has all franchise food stands so prices are same as on the street. If I have time to eat before I get on the plane I don't bother with the sack lunch.

For a long flight, maybe an apple or some trail mix.

Water is free, coffee is free, sodas are free so I don't bother with that but if I am flying at lunch or supper, I will get a big iced tea with the food.

Of course, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are easy to fix, don't spoil, that and a bag of chips and some milk from the cabin crew would be a nice snack.
