A Puzzle (for Logical Du'ers)
Jim bought a new Electric Lawn-mower this morning and 100 ft of extension cord.
He thought to himself "Well, I better get the back yard mowed as my wife is having a party this evening"
Jim plugs in the extension cord at the outlet in the rear of his house and hooks up his new mower and starts cutting the grass...during this time Jim's wife takes their only car and goes shopping for this evenings party.
Unfortunately, Jim didn't buy a long enough extension cord. He sees that it's about 5 ft short to completely finish his lawn.

Rats!, Jim thinks..my wife is gone with the car, there's not any neighbors home to borrow another cord, there's no cords in the house and no other plug outside the house and since the windows are sealed tight, I can't even use a plug closer to the part of the lawn that didn't get mowed.

Jim sits down for a minute...thinks, smiles....get's up and finishes mowing the lawn.

How?

11. Easy-peasy
Gets out his Gravely Model 335 Sod Cutter.

Cuts a 5' strip off the back of his lot.
Moves it 5' closer to the house.
Mows it.
Puts the sod back in place.
Works for me.

with the blades still going because of the inertia.

24. Have you ever actually used an electric mower?
They wind down really quick when the power is cut. The resistance in the magnets is much greater than the inertia in the blade. It might be good for a foot or so, but not five.

26. Jim was a cheap Fucker. His didn't have any safety features..
..on his mower....in fact, it came equipped with a GIGANTIC 25,000 Pound flywheel that would spin for hours after you turned off the power.

28. ..In Fact ..since he's MY Jim...I'll tell you something even worse.
He was so cheap that he had alienated his wife and entire family.
You know I posted that his wife was out shopping? Well, I lied to protect Jim's manhood. Actually, She was downtown at sleazy bars picking up "Tricks" to make some extra money so she could buy Jim a longer extension cord and maybe even a Mower that had a safety stop on it.

16. Does he have a gas generator in the garage?
All I know is there's no way to get the mower to the extra grass with power from the current extension cord. The power has to come from somewhere else. Did he plug in to someone else's house?

17. He waits for a lightning storm
Making modifications to the mower in the meantime. When a bolt of lightning strikes it, the 1.21 gigawatts sends him back in time where he smacks the shit out of his past self for not buying a longer extension cord.

cuts the plug off the extension cord and (carefully) attaches one wire to the ground and one wire to one of the hots?

Two months later, he is prosecuted for theft of electricity.

30. Jim goes to the garage...
where he dips into his coffee can full of nuts & bolts.

He pulls out a Lag Screw and a Fender Washer.

He then takes a crescent wrench off the pegboard.

He flips the lawn mower over and removes one of the blades--electric mowers sometimes have two, and this is what Jim's mower has.

Jim grabs the shovel and sets it on his workbench. Using the crescent wrench, he screws the blade to the butt end of the shovel handle, creating a sling blade.

With the sling blade in hand, he goes to that remote five feet of yard and cuts the grass.

The minute his wife returns from the store, he loads the electric lawn mower into the family car, hauls it back to Lowe's, gets his money back because "this damn thing is too puny for my yard," then buys a Honda.
