What's the story behind RATM's concert by the 2000 DNC?
Why did they go to that one and not the RNC? Considering that is where the future dictator is. The Live at the Grand Olympic DVD has bonus features that include 5 songs performed at that concert. Was it free or was it scheduled? Did they just decide to raise hell? Man, like has been said, as much as I do like Audioslave, and I like them, they are no RATM. It is funny that RATM existed in the relatively peaceful 1990's but are not out here now when they would be even more pertinent. What they said then is true for the time, but is even more true now. Were they trying to be prophetic? Did they know what was to come in 10 years?

2. I believe they played the RNC as well.
That was less violent. Go figure. Although I do have a live recording of them singing Fuck the Police which they dedicated to the cops in Philly at the RNC convention. Pretty good stuff.

It was part of a relatively peaceful protest outside the DNC convention, which the police eventually decided to shut down. There were speakers and other bands during that day.

I didn't notice a single political song on the Audioslave CD. Losers. I truly wish we had RATM around today. We need them.

3. Yeah that's true. But I still like Audioslave.
But Tom Morello still has a side project and a website with the guy from System of a Down.

4. I just got sick of what's his names voice sometime in the late 90's.

So I can't get into Audioslave even though I consider Morello to be one of the great guitar players of our time.

This thread made me find No Shelter, which is still my favorite RATM song. I put it on a CD I made for a peace rally in 2003. It fits so perfectly.
on edit: I mean "the front line is everywhere" could have been about the war on terror. "the thin line between entertainment and war" is so applicable today. Man.

Zach de LaRocha had a pretty good song on the F911 CD.
