Dammit, this NHL crap REALLY pisses me off.
In the history of the world, barring the cancelling of the Olympics due to WWII, has any country ANYWHERE (besides the good ol' US of A) cancelled an entire sport season? For ANY reason?

I admit, I'm not a sport freak, and I've only ever been to one NHL game, but imho hockey is one of the purest of the sports, and it's the only sport besides boxing and martial arts that I'll actually tune in to and watch. And now they CANCEL THE FREAKIN' SEASON.

It's all about money, I guess. Well, they're gonna lose a shitload of it THIS year. They deserve it. And I don't give a flyin' fuck about who's responsible and the politics behind it. It's pathetic. Pure and simple.

11. Baseball actually played two shortened seasons.
The 1994 season ended in August, the labor dispute wasn't settled till early April 1995, and the 1995 season started in late April.

played. :hi:

side note: I was really looking forward to watching the replacement players play that year. They all looked like they were having so much fun during the preseason. So much better than the seasoned vets and their attitudes.

3. They've certainly succeeded in one thing.
They've killed the NHL. I don't see the league recovering from this one.

7. This is the first year since 1919 the Stanley Cup won't be awarded
(I believe that's the year-- I read an article on the fly earlier today and that date sticks for some reason)

14. Yeah, but as a former Winnipeg Jets fan, this is WONDERFUL.
I couldn't be happier that this is happening. Now you all know what it feels like what I've been going through for the past 9 years.

Now that the NHL will most likely be reborn, this will result in a prime chance for the NHL to come back to WINNIPEG!!!!

17. it's a big deal to our neighbors up north
Where hockey is their national pastime and obsession While it's not a big sport in the U.S.

The fans will probable turn their backs on the NHL like they did to the MLB after their strike. I recall when they resumed the season fans booed at them and threw dollars in their faces.
