HAHAHA-encounter with REALLY stupid freeper.
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 06:34 PM by Shakespeare
I recently switched jobs and am now working in a MUCH smaller law office in the 'burbs, and we have a greater mix of freepy clients here (alas, part of the tradeout for getting rid of my heinous commute).

A client just came in, desperate for a referral to a white collar crime litigator, because he's being sued by a group of investors.

Why?

Because he fell for the Nigerian email scam.

And, sadly, got a small group of investors behind him for the "opportunity" and used their money, which, of course, was parted from him. Apparently, it was an entire herd of stupid freepers. They all fell for it.

It's SUCH a small office that I had to restrain myself until he left, and when he did, I almost killed myself laughing.

on edit: How do I know he's a freeper (in the broad definition of the word)? His big, white Ford truck is plastered with Bush stickers.

8. I couldn't believe it, either--asked the attorney they came to see.
"Are you SURE it was the Nigerian email scam? REALLY??"

It was. Much laughter and eye-rolling followed.

21. This would probably work
Tell them you can get their money back, but you need $10k up front and their bank account number to make sure they can be trusted. When the $10k is deposited, you will send them the address where they can pick up the money.

23. Wait. Y'mean Edo Boman, Mr. Bello Nonso, & M. Nwachukwu are scamming me?!
Hehe. I have an extra e-mail account that is bombarded with these types of e-mails constantly. I came across a site once where someone posted several e-mail conversations with one of these guys, just toying with them. Good stuff -- sorry I don't have a link.

BTW, these are all names taken from those e-mails.

Some of the photos are hilarious! And the piss-poor photoshop jobs--haha! Well, they must figure if you're dumb enough to fall for the scam, you're probably dumb enough to fall for a half-assed photoshop jpeg.

24. It's amazing how many people still fall for those
Nigerian scams. Just goes to prove how gullible those Repukes are. There is no way in hell he will ever be able to recover any of his money. How much did he lose? Most people usually lose thousands before they finally wake up and realize that they are being scammed.

30. That scam comes into my church office with a religious angle!
I work in a church office, and we get several of those a day. But these add a bit about the person having found the Lord and wanting to make sure his money goes to someone who will put it to a Godly use. These scammers have no shame!

34. In order to fall for the GOP's corporatist BS...
...you have to believe that one day you could be rich, too. Really believe, perhaps to the point where you'll be a sucker for anyone that promises you great wealth. Comforting phrases, spiced with just enough aw-shucks faux-folksiness, may work especially well on you.

I've never considered this before, but it makes sense that the two groups of patsies overlap quite a bit.
