anyone see "good fences" with whoopi goldberg and danny glover
i think it was made in 2003
that was one interesting movie about race. it primarily takes place in the 70s and the tone veers so much it takes time to adjust to the difference from basically every other movie

im always glad to see whoopi in a movie where she can show some of her skill. she is a real talent

5.  thanks for responding.... i liked it too. it took a bit to get
used to the shifts in tone but it was interesting and we always need more thoughtful pieces on race.

its good to see something like that was made but i only knew of it through on-demand. otherwise im not sure i would have known it existed.
they offer some other good movies like bushs brain, uncovered, and fahrenheit is offered as ppv of course
by showing these kind of movies at least i can feel like im still living in a bit of free society

10. yeah. you should check it out. im sure there are better online reviews
than mine but i would encourage anyone to see this movie. when i saw the 2 sentence onscreen description it sounded completely different than what i saw. it sounded like a comedy because it starred whoopi and said something like "what happens when a working class african american family moves into an upper class neighborhood"

but what i saw was a thought provoking piece on race and guilt and assimilation etc in the 1970s

danny glover is a lawyer in the early 70s who is basically kept down but who yearns for entry into the success of white america. he and whoopi have 2 children and danny esp wants only the "best" for them which to him means princeton, not morehouse or howard.

the tone veered back and forth along thoughtful and intense scenes to comedy. i really enjoyed seeing them get to watch roots when it came on in 1977? wasnt it... their individual responses to it summed it all up
