I absolutely LOVED "Under The Tuscan Sun"
This is an incredibly scenic movie with a wonderful storyline. Let's face it - it's without a doubt a major chick flick (although Tuscan did 7mill last weekend in the theaters compared to Rundown starting 'The Rock's 9mill. But Tuscan was in less than half the theaters).

Anyone else seen this movie? It's been a long time since I saw something in the theater that I would pay another $10 to go see again, but this one I definately will (I have another friend who wants to see it and I said I would go again).

Plus the guy who plays Marcello - DREAMY!!

Geez, I'm like a little school girl!!

the book, it's still a wonderful "Chick Flick." Nice to see a movie like this isn't it? Many critics were harsh, but they were male critics and seemed to not get why the movie could be enjoyable to anyone.

Yep, it's a good one. And the acting is also a treat! Thanks for posting. I had posted about it in Meeting Room a couple of weeks ago and got one post saying: "Chick Flick."

I am a Chick so it was a good flick! :D

On EDIT: I hope someone who read the original book will post, here. It's a good read. So pleasant, takes your mind of politics and AWAY!

3. Diane Lane is gorgeous!!!!
I too loved it. Wasn't too sappy like a lot of chick flicks. The scenary blew me away although I would have LOVED to see more of Marcello. A couple of more scenes with him, shirtless preferably, would have been great. Although I was disturbed that her pregnant friend flew to Tuscany in what looked like her third trimester. But it is is only a movie:)

5. Didn't read the book, did you?
In the REAL story, the chick and her hubby are teachers who vackay in Tuscany (before it got overrun with swedes and people from Phoenix AZ) and decide to buy a farmhouse there.

The story is a home rehabbers' tale from hell, with very little, if any, local people interaction. In fact, the main character's best relationships are with OTHER ex-pats and some yugoslavian plasterers.

There was no love story; her hubby is rarely even mentioned. It's about etruscan discoveries, olive trees, plaster and plumbing. Now THAT'S a book I can read!

6. Refuse to read the books after I've seen the movie
I'm always so disappointed when they make books into movies and without failure the movie sucks (or at least it does in comparison to the book). I'm an avid reader so it drives my friends crazy.

8. Normally I'm with you. Get furious when they are different. This time it
didn't bother me. I thought it was more fascinating how MUCH they changed the movie while keeping the rebirth theme intact. But, I think some movie goers might have been very upset. The older ones I think.

I always think it's good to stand in the bookstore and read about 10 pages of a book before I buy it. Sometimes I flip. I this case it might be a good idea before one buys the book after seeing the movie. If it doesn't grab you right off or seems to different, why bother?

7. radwriter, actually she was divorcing her hubby and the plasterers were
Polish. The building of the stonewall in the movie is taken from the book. There is alot about rebuilding, but the spiritual quality of her "rebuilding herself" are themes both the book and the movie share.

I don't know that our teen and 20 something DU'ers would be so interested in the book, but I think that mid-thirty somethings and upward would really enjoy the read. It was on the best seller list for ages!
