I'm just going to say goodbye now
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 07:49 AM by nothingshocksmeanymo
I couldn't sleep. I clicked on GD and can already see a certain moron that has no clue as to what she is talking about spouting her stupid ass mouth off again. If I don't leave this site, I will probably end up being tombstoned anyway because I can hardly hold my anger.

I told the PAC committee that I work with that this would be my last election. There is NO sense in rolling this rock uphill. I'm not interested in anyone saying what a poor campaign Gray Davis ran. What just happened was the politics of division. Cruz Bustamante saw a chance to grab power and was running around behind the Democratic party's back inspiring his people to vote for the recall and to vote for him. IF you look at the California figures, and you know this state, you can spot it.

At any rate, I am thankful for the friends I met here but I need a strong dose of apathy for a while.

I'll check my inbox for the next couple of days for those who wish to keep in touch.

(oh and Midori..I haven't forgotten you and won't)

I completely understand. At least you know to leave before you lose your temper. (That way you always have the opinion to come back. :-) ) My sincere sympathies to you and all those who worked so hard in California--I'm sorry that your state is similar to mine. (The majority of the voters are morans.)

So, please, take a break--but check back in every so often and let us know how you're doing! You'll be missed around here! :-)

rest your head, and get your mind back in order.

The thought of not seeing you here is :scary: to say the least!

In case you haven't noticed, WE are the opposition. What happened in CA might just make us stronger! Schwarzenegger can't possibly be a good governor; he won't be able to get anything done and will fall flat on his face.

Now is not the time to lose one of our finest voices and minds in this fight! Do not let this setback keep you from the ranks, we must continue this fight, and you are a powerful voice for justice and truth.

I look forward to seeing you here often, defending our positions from a position of strength an unity. Just as you always have.

You are NOT leaving DU. I was shocked too at the posts on DU last night--but of all the people who are the backbone of DU, I would have never thought you would leave because of it.

YOU ARE NOT LEAVING DU. Your intelligence and valuable insights, as well as your FORTITIDE in responding to and challenging offensive posters, are true assets to this site, and if you go, I will probably eventually follow you out the door.

Thank you for challenging stupidity, racism, regional snobbery, and SEXISM on this forum like no one else does.

The first day you are not here will be a tragic day for DU. DON'T LEAVE!!!

Thanks for all your hard work and inspiration.

It hurts to work so hard and then experience loss.

there won't be a week from now or a month. But even from 3,000 miles away I feel the same and was toying with asking Skinner to tombstone me temporarily so I wouldn't go around blasting people indiscriminately.

Get some rest, catch your breath, return to the fight. Just think: if there's some BBV angle to Arnold's election (which is more believable than that half of California voters are really this foolish) it might turn out that this was the first step in taking our country back. A faint silver lining perhaps, but worth a thought.

Please don't think you have to take on all of the world by yourself. You don't you know. Some people will never change their minds no matter how many well thought-out arguments, references and facts you give them. So please don't take it as some sort of lacking on your part.

Having said that, you're one of the few reasons I venture into GD at all. I wish I had a small part of your brilliant mind. Watching you in action is as much pleasure as learning experience.

my message is there for you...and for the rest of you friends I think the California Recall passing and having Arnold for Governor is all about the majority of the people who are very fustrated, hurting and angry.

The need of jobs in Ca and across America with the awful fustration trying to find one.
I think this vote for Arnold was not choice over the party, it's the need for desperate change.

I feel this change will still carry out in 2004 and Bush will not benefit having Arnold as Governor, there maybe influence from his Democratic wife Maria and hopefully those values are governed.

I'm still holding out alot of hope that we will have a Democratic President because the situation in California is like with every state of the union needing funds badly and it's a reflection of the Bush's adminstration with our tax dollars going everywhere but to the people who need it most.

Keep hope alive friends that this will only energize the Democratic Party to be more determined then ever to get the message out about truth and facts about Bush and his regime.

It's DUers like you in the Democratic Party that will do that and I thank you very much for all your great efforts in succeeding for the goal that people come first in this country, Americans will be heard when they put their vote to 2004.

Thank you again Teena for all your great efforts here, for making this a better place and your absence will be greatly missed. But know this, time away is a good thing, energize yourself to who you are, a fighter that I can admire and a good friend to all who loves you.

I remember, because I replied to that post with "Yeah, what NSMA said." It was in an AWD thread where he was pondering leaving DU, and you were letting him know that that was no solution. (glad to see he's back, too)

It was true for him then, and its true for you now.

57. I Just Missed You Guys
I got there around 9:30, my business dinner went late. :-( Although I did manage to lure NSMA back for a quick drink. We commiserated over the travesty that was the recall election. I'm sad, but not surprised, to see her take a leave.

You're the best, T, and I'll talk to you soon.

Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 02:00 PM by Booberdawg
You put all the blood, sweat and tears into this that you could possibly give, only to see it result in a crushing defeat due to the interference of those who pretend to be on the same side. Take the time to heal, then come back. We need you.

62. Et tu, NMSA???
I felt exactly the same way last night and this morning. Like just saying "fuck it" to everything political, because it was pushing the damn rock uphill for nothing. (In fact, you helped me deal with my own frustration just last night when some of the exit poll data started coming out from MSGOP.) But I just can't do it, I got that ol' monkey on my back! I may take a break for a while; I haven't decided. You don't need to decide anything permanent anyway.

The door is always open, my friend.

69. Use the Ignore!
And hang out in the Lounge for a while.

I know how you feel. It seems like it just never ends, this Repuke assault on our country. The energy it takes to stay informed and to fight the bastards is daunting at times. You do need to relax, after your recent battle. You were right to fight it. But maybe the state party or even the national party is not the best venue.

I've been working for specific candidates the last two election cycles. Luckily so far for candidates who have won! On the night of Debacle 2002, I was at the Rendell Victory Party! I am also working with groups that work to get out the vote.

I can't sit still and do nothing, but the party apparatus seems hopelessly immired in losing tactics. Leave them behind and find a group that is making a difference.

And please don't leave DU! Take a break for a few days and come join us when you are refreshed.

I decided if I didn't hear that Terry McAuliffe had resigned then I'm outta here. What the hell were they thinking? R the dems gonna let him ruin a 3rd campaign? Let him raise money but get him the hell out of the leadership role.

But then I changed my mind 'n went to our 67th AD committee meeting last night. It was good 2 B around other dems feeling bad. It was healing. Our candidate 4 the assembly was there w/ his position paper and we helped him polish some points, clarify others. I feel better 2day.

105. Begging your pardon
You don't have any say in the matter.

And if you don't mind my saying so, you've been here since Jul 24th - less than 90 days. Some of these people have been around here since the beginning of DU. NSMA clocked over 24,000 posts and established a rapport with a LOT of people who wish to express themselves right now. I think it rather rude and presumptuous of you to discourage it and otherwise complain about it.

Many of us consider DU a community. You make a reference to a cult of personality that I find offensive. You don't have to participate. I would thank you to kindly drop the matter and simply defer to those who disagree with your assessment.

Thank you.

107. Seconded, that is
Well put...any 'cult of personality' around nothingshocksmeanymore is a direct result not only of her worth as a person - considerable, to say the least - but of her contributions here, that are extraordinary, as well as recognition of her going above and beyond in the real world of California politics (and beyond).

Of course we want her back; of course we want to her to stay away from here for as long as she needs. She was and remains a prominent and valuable feature of DU's landscape and her leaving, for however long that is, creates ripples - this thread is one of those ripples. If someone doesn't appreciate those ripples, then they can please just stay the hell out of the water and let the rest of us splash around for as long as we want to.

with NSMA. I too am a Californian who has been devastated by what happened to Davis. I am going to pretty much take myself out of the arena as well except to vote in the elections. It's just too much. I was physically ill this week due to what happened. I'll still come and visit every so often but mainly on the "fun" threads (favorite song, favorite movie, etc.) This has got to be one of the saddest times in my beloved California's history. I am simply at a loss....
