2. I like the cartoon. I have a spastic mother with MS
One time she tripped (back when she could walk) and her friend said "what's the matter, are you spastic or something?" She said "well, yes, as a matter of fact I am." Her friend was shocked and very apologetic, hadn't even thought of the meaning.

3. those labels hit close to home for some people
take "retarded". There are actually quite a few people out there with mild mental retardation...more than you might suspect. Not all of them look like "retards" at first glance.
