15. B.B King, not only is he a better guitarist
but he's a better blues guitarist as well. Also that Kenny-something fellow was pretty good. What was his last name again?

Still I think Jack white is a good song-writer who has an unfortunate habit of trying to dress like a younger Robert Smith (Who also has an unfortunate habit of trying to dress like a younger Robert Smith) and definitely a better guitarist than me. (I sing better though)

16. Is Jack White really considered a GREAT guitarist?
I must be confusing them with the Strokes but both sound(ed) pretty much the same to me. No guitarist I but it sounded to me just like strumming no Alvin Lee type riffs.

Maybe I am wrong.

57. I feel the same way about Cobain as I do about J Ramone on that list.
Great songwriters, but honestly it doesn't take much skill to play their music. It's all barre chords. Stuff like The Ramones and Nirvana is what I started playing when I first started learning the guitar.

17. He plays simple blues riffs in open-E.
Which he learned from Tom Potter. Who learned from Don Howland. Who learned from Skip James. Howland and Potter are better guitarists than White; James is long dead, but he was better as well.

Jack's a good showman, he really knows how to work the stage. But he's not a great guitarist.

About music history and theory, so I can't argue.

I was just blown away both times I've seen the White Stripes and just got their live Blackpool DVD. Amazing.

He plays lead, rythym, and bass simultaneously. With great energy. Mabye it is simple pedal gimmicks or someone behind the stage playing with him. I just haven't seen something that awesome since Johnny Ramone.

How about:

Charlie Hunter
John Scofield
Wes Montgomery
Joe Pass
Django Reinhardt
Chet Atkins
Robert Johnson
Leo Nocentelli
Allan Holdsworth
John McLaughlin
Kenny Burrell and
Al DiMeola, just to name a few.

Geez, Jack White isn't even remotely close in talent to any of those.

60. I love him but he's not all that great.
He plays with a lot of passion, that's the important thing. I bet even Jack would shy away from being called great. That's not what he's about.

I'd say a better word for his playing is "Arresting".
