My Crappy, Crappy Day
I saw my doctor today about an extremely painful but minor medical problem, which has gotten so bad lately the pain wakes me in the middle of night and makes me vomit from pain. Turns out the treatment is far worse than the condition, and all I can do is take more pain medicine. Oh, and one of the serious things wrong with me is worse. My doctor is terrific and really wants me to be okay, so that part of the visit was nice. The news just sucked.

Then I took my car to get smogged, which I can only afford because I put it on my gas card. Somehow the tester made my car overheat - which it never does - and it failed one goddamn thing, which meant I didn't get a certificate. I'm a AAA member, and when I paid my car fees, they gave me a 30-day extension and told me they'd give me another one if I needed it, so that didn't suck.

I then stopped for coffee and a magazine, only to find I left the magazine at home. Oh well. I amuse myself with a newspaper and NPR, and double my pain meds as my doctor tells me to do - and develop a whanging headache. It doesn't really help the other pain, either.

Later, I dropped by the drugstore to get some neat things on super-extreme-clearance. When I got home, I managed to drop the bag they were in, shattering one of the bottles (a really nice bottle, too). It was only .50, but it still sucked.

I got that all cleaned up, settled down with a take-out salad for dinner and turned on the TV - and the election has been called in Schwarzenegger's favor.

I think I'm going to hide under the bed for a while. Call me when it's time for the next recall.

1. Lordy. WHat a crappy day. I will send you puppies!
That is when I figure out how to do that.
IN the meantime, know someone in Alaska is
sending you very good vibes, honey.

HUGS and SMOOCHES!

3. There Is Some Good News
I got my cats a new toy while I was out, and they are playing with it. It's a mouse that hangs from a doorknob and when the cats pull on it, it makes a funny little noise. I've started about a hundred times tonight, thinking, "What the hell was THAT? Oh, yeah, new cat toy."

Thanks for the vibes and virtual puppies! Virtual puppies are probably the best kind around six cats ... or maybe not ...

4. Ayup
Because of the Serious Disease, I can only take narcotics for pain relief and I got a new bottle today. I've found that a Vicodin + a Soma makes life more bearable ... not that the pain is any better; I just don't care as much!

5. Don't sweat the small stuff...
...and *everything* is small stuff, well, at least everything except the medical illness part.

6. Well
The Serious Disease will kill me in 10-20 years. The non-serious one just hurts like it's going to kill me in 10-20 minutes!

7. Sounds like a shitty day to me, yup...
Reminds me of just a few weeks ago. The right had won the local elections in Oslo (and given a mandate to continue destroying our capital) without even getting a majority of the vote. It "just so happened" that the government, also rightwingers, decided to scrap our 135 year old voting system in favour of a new model that would "favour the small parties' chances of winning representation". Which is a bit of a coincidence, considering that the only two parties in any position to gain advantages from this new voting system are both (a) in the government, and (b) centre-right and christian democrats respectively.

The same week, my football team lost 6-0 at home (their heaviest defeat ever), I got a flat tyre, and my wages didn't arrive on time. Oh, and I found out I'd paid too little in taxes this year and promptly had to set aside loads of dosh planned for spending on getting christmas presents and stuff. The same week I tripped on the stairs, fell down and sprained my ankle. Certainly a week to forget, although your day sounds like something else in comparison. The moral: Hold your head up high, shitty things don't happen every day ;)

8. At Least You're in Norway!
Some of the best and brightest people I've 'met' on the 'net have been from Norway. What;s up with that? Are all Norweigans witty and bilingual or is there some government program?

Your government may be going nuts, but I'll put the US government up against anyone's for sheer stupidity!

And despite my crappy day, it did happen in the San Francisco Bay area, which is one of the nicest areas (weatherwise, at least) in the US.

Hope your ankle is mending!

13. damn, REP...so sorry about the pain
that's terrible. i haven't been having the greatest day either, but your post helps me to keep things in perspective. i did have a great interview today...one hitch: the job is in Marin county. my car needs a new water pump and fan belts, got the estimate today: $325.00 :wow: i know for a FACT that the parts cost only about $70.00...maybe i can find someone to do it for me for less labor charges...i pray. if i get the job, i will have to drive, but of course, i need the job to get my car fixed. my neighbor graciously let me borrow her car for the interview today (bless her), so i guess i'll have to figure something out soon...or face a hellish commute on public transportation. anyway...as i said, i could be worse.
((((REP)))) take goood care.
