I'm off to bed but before I go
I have to straighten something out....I'm sure no-one cares..if you don't I don't wanna hear about it. Just listen up. When refering to Vancouver...do not call it "Van" There is a North Van, a South Van a West Van and An East Van..but there is no "Van" it doesn't exsist.

I have just seen people call it that on a few threads...nothing against those that do, they just don't know. Anyway I'm done.

Douglas Coupland actually adresses this in "City of Glass" haha

3. would you prefer YVR?
people have a tendancy to reduce city names in the northwest when typing.

b-ham
sea
t-town
oly
pdx

and van is a naturally abbreviation of Vancouver.

Although I guess we could just use the airport code....
