Hey, Boston area DUers
Hook me up with some playoff tickets, will ya?

I checked the Red Sox site and they are all sold out.

I've got $20 burning a hole in my pocket. All I'm asking for is a nice 1st base line box seat.

Thanks for the help.

;-)

And I've got $22. Box seats will suffice.

2. the bars across from fenway on landsdowne
are a close second, and if you get drunk enough, you can hardly tell the difference:)

4. Was that one of the bars they were showing last night?
They kept showing a packed bar near Fenway during the game last night.

It looked like a fun place.

5. My friends are going tomorrow
I've been dared to go with them- in my Yankees gear.
I'm brave, but I'm not stupid enough to walk into the lion's den when alochol is involved. I'm all for fun and good natured bashing, but not of the physical kind.

6. Don't do it!!!!
I mean, don't wear the Yankees gear. Go to the bar.

I remember sitting in the bleacher section years ago when I was in Boston for business. I thought it would be fun to catch a game (it was), but the only tickets I could find were in the bleachers.

Let me tell you, drunk Red Sox fans are fun to be around, but don't piss them off. I saw a couple of pushing matches due to rowdy fans. It would have been worse if security hadn't been all over the place.

No, go to the bar, drink a beer for me, and enjoy the game without the Yankees gear.

7. Can't
To not wear my Yankees jersey and hat would be most offending to the baseball gods.
That and I don't have a fake ID :)

8. the place they were showing last night was Jillians
but, IMHO, if you want the "true" sox bar experience, go to the Cask N'Flagon right behind the Green Monster. It is a great bar, gets pretty packed, but is completely insane and the people there are rabid fans. Jillians is ok, but it's more of a "corporate bar", I think I just made that up. What i mean by that is that they have 3 or 4 floors, some like an arcade, others with pool halls and ping pong tables, etc... It's not really an intimate setting. There are a couple of really good dive bars around there too (PJ Kilroy's has 5.50 pitchers of Busch and frosted plastic glasses:), and the Beerworks isn't bad but I'm not a huge fan. THere are also places like Who's on First (on Yawkey way), which is a great time, as well as the Baseball Tavern (on Ipswich I believe) which is also really cool. There are a lot of other bars around there, but none I'd probably see a sox game in (Boston Billiard Club is ok, as is BB Wolf's, but neither is great). Just some suggestions...

9. There was a place I went to years ago
called Commonwealth Brewery. They had all kinds of draft beer that they brewed. It was fun. I don't know if that is near Fenway, or if they show the games, but my memory was that it was a nice little place.

Of course, that was 15 years ago. Everytime I'm in the area, I go to my sisters house in Concord, so I don't get into town much.

11. Jillians is Corporate. $15 cover charge
lots to do but its like an Adult Mall. I prefer Cask and Flagon or BBQ Wolf, good food at the wolf.

Boston Billiard co is ok.

But I am going to Games 3 and 5, (huge grin) so you wont see me there.

12. you evil bastard:)
I'm going to be out of town starting tomorrow (just posted a thread about it in the lounge) at a bachelor party in NC, and I need to find some bars down there to watch the games in. I'll be back just in time for Sunday night's game, I was seriously considering skipping the bachelor party, but I'm the best man, so it's probably not kosher:)

13. you need a best man at a Bachelor Party.
we just drew for the seats. there are four guys who get to split 2 playoff seats per game. and I won games three and 5. The other 2 who only get to go to game 4 haven't responded to me in two hours. I think they are just a little pissed!

10. 20 big ones eh?
so that and about a hundred more might get you a seat. Is this some indirect criticism of the ridiculous price of tickets nowadays?

14. Nah...just a direct criticism of the inside of my wallet
Actually, I went on a ticket brokerage site, and you won't believe what they are selling the tickets for.

For a bad seat, they are $750 each, and for a really good seat, you can drop $2,500 per ticket.

That bar idea is looking better and better.

I have this fantasy that the Red Sox and Cubs get into the world series, and I somehow get box seat tickets for the regular price.

Ah....fantasies......
