Who All Will Be Seeing "KILL BILL" Vol 1 This Weekend?
I don't get out to see many films these days, but I'm there for this one opening weekend.

1. I want to see it but don't know if I can handle the gore factor
I read an article in the Village Voice that described one of the scenes, might be too disturbing for me.

2. Heh...the gore is one reason I'm going
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 01:48 PM by khephra
I hear the ratings board must have been doing acid to let this one go out as R...yet another reason why ratings are ALWAYS subjective.

Not that I'm complaining... I love violent films if the violence is either stylish to the point where it's almost dance or a part of the plot.

6. The gore isn't presented in a realistic manner...
I'm a big fan of the Samurai/Kung Fu genre and stuff like blood spurting or decapitations are too cartoonish to be taken too seriously.

3. Not me
Tarantino is LAME. Jackie Brown was weak, and he hasn't done crap since. And now he's releasing this in two volumes? What a jerk.

Tarantino is the Guns 'n' Roses of Hollywood--one huge success, then ten years of hype.

4. Have you even seen the previews?
I agree with you about Tarantino, but this film looks SOOOOOOO good that I'm reaching Nirvana each time I see the previews.

10. I saw a mini special on the film on Bravo...
It looks amazing. I'll flinch at parts, but I plan to see it.

11. Yeah, I have
Can't say I'm psyched about it. Maybe I'll give it a shot if I hear enough people say good things about it. But as it stands now, I don't want to see it.

5. whoa!
Jackie Brown was NOT weak. It was slower, more mature, and better made than any of his other films. And SO WHAT he hasn't made a movie in years. Woody Allen makes films EVERY year and they ALL SUCK.

Man. And *everyone* wants to work with him, I don't get it.
I've only seen maybe 2-3 of his films I like. Plus, I got some issues with directors who put themselves in pictures, LOL.

28. Jackie Brown
JB was much different from his other films. It was a little heavier on story and not so much on action and violence. I'm a QT fan, and I really enjoyed the movie. Great acting, phenomenal music, and a good Elmore Leonard story.

Coming after "Pulp Fiction", this was not what many QT fans expected. But it stands as a great movie. I liked it better than "Resevoir Dogs", which I thought was a bit overrated.

16. If Jackie Brown was weak
it was only due to the notorious difficulty of adapting an Elmore Leonard book to the big screen. I read Danny DiVito had the script to Get Shorty completely re-written because the original script was in no way similar to the book. If you have read any Elmore Leonard books, you know what I'm talking about. If not, go buy some now!

17. Actually, Tarantino wanted it released as one long film
Its Miramax who forced the 'split' of it into two volumes to maximize profit potential. Quentin is still trying to get the 2nd volume released ASAP after the first.

12. I loved that movie
It had some great, subtle moments that really resonated (like when Murray touches her foot while they're falling asleep on the bed.) He was amazing; probably his best performance. He'll get a nod come Oscar time.

15. I loved when he was singing Karaoke and he nearly breaks down...
I love that...no romance, no fighting, just two lost people finding eachother for a moment in time in the most unlikely of places.

27. Lost in T. was awful.
Scarlett Johansen lacks passion and ruins every movie she is in.

I love the shots of Japan though.

But I don't know how I am going to fit time in my weekend to see it; I will most likely be glued to the TV watching the Sox/Yanks duke it out.

26. Heck Yea-----um, maybe.
There has never been a woman Revenge/On the Warpath film, and I predict that it will get Quentin back what he lost after Pulp Fiction.

I'm not crazy about Uma's ability with a sword, but this film and the Singing Detective (oh, and LOTR) are my three MUST SEEs this fall.

Course, I have a bunch of crap to do before I can reward myself with a movie.

SO excited for it though. Hate that its in two parts, but I've read one of the scripts, so I'm good to go.

29. Kill Bill
I first saw a trailer on the DVD of "Gangs Of New York". Was not impressed whatsoever, and I'm a QT fan.

Then I saw the newer trailer with the twoomen brawling and trying to kill themselves in a house. Suddenly, a school bus pulled up in front of the house, and the son walks in.

"How was your day, sweetie?"

You have to see the trailer. Laughed my ass off! Maybe it is a good movie and my first impression was wrong.
