Parody of Woody Guthrie's "Do-Re-Mi" (humour)
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 12:59 PM by unidentifiedbassplay
If any of you are so inpired, feel free to add a verse or two.

Right now may be a bad time for this little parody. If it pisses you off, I apologize; on the other hand, if you're reading this from CA and you're pissed off and you haven't VOTED...well, I don't think you have no call to be pissed off. Get out there.

G-O-V (apologies to Woody Guthrie)

Lots of folks back East are glued, to the telly-vision tube
Watching the returns from the California side
Will the Gov'nor save his hide or will Shwartzenegger ride
All the way to Sacramento, Here's what I think you'll find
That the troubles California's gonna face
Won't just go away with this here recall race...

'Cos if you ain't got the G-O-V, folks, you ain't got the G-O-V
Why you might as well go back to New York City, Philly, Chapel Hill or Washington DC
California is a garden of Eden, a paradise to live in or see
But you'll hate it I swear, you won't feel welcome there
If you ain't got the G-O-V

You want to get a job, since you ain't no lazy slob
Or spend your golden years by the ocean or the sea
Don't get going too far West, you may not enjoy your rest
Better take this little tip from me:
Cause no matter what the White House spins today
And the talking heads on Fox News always say

on edit: typoes. The typist will not be back.

Sounds like the type of thing he would've written anyway.

Hell half his songs were words he put to old tunes, I don't think he'd mind at all. I'd also say his political leanings were decidedly to the left in nature, what with his support for the workin' man and so forth :)
