I hate DISH network!!
My credit is too bad for all of that. :P

I thought it would be something nice I could get myself with my new job. But I guess not.

But I just hung up with their customer service and essecially, I would have to cough up $450 buck UP FRONT. :grr: :grr: :grr:

I'm really depressed now. :-(

1. I Hated Dish Network For Other Reasons...
... and switched to DirecTV after just 14 days of having Dish Network.

Sorry to hear that their strict credit requirements mean a large up-front payment for you. Have you called DirecTV yet?

3. Haven't tried them yet, Allen
are they easy to work with?

Most of this stuff is from years ago when I was married, but It hasn't fallen off my credit report yet.

5. I've Only Had Good Experiences With Them...
... but I can't make any judgement regarding how they deal with (or accomodate) someone with credit that's not up to whatever their standard might be.

The installation guy from DirecTV was much more thorough and NEATER than the Dish Network guy. Their service quality is compatible, but the DirecTV converter boxes have fewer bugs and glitches. (The Dish Network converter boxes and on-screen guides were quirky to use and were incompatible with my stand-alone DVR.) I've needed customer service once in the past year and after a quick diagnostic run-through with a telephone tech person, a new converter was shipped to us via overnight Fedex.

I have no regrets at all.

9. Hey Allen, you are right,
DTV was a much more pleasant experience just now.

I ordered my equipment, same as what I wanted from DISH, and it only cost me $127.

They are scheduled to come out next Saturday! YAY!!! :D *doing happy dance* :bounce: :bounce:

12. I have had great service with Direct TV...
I got the free dish/installation deal a couple of years ago and the installer was awesome. He did a great job and was very neat. When I moved last year, I brought my receiver and the installed a new dish for me at my new house. Plus, any time I have had to call their customer service, I have had great results.

with them?

edit: I certainly wouldn't be ordering this stuff if I didn't think I could pay for it.

14. I have been using them for 5 years.
When they update receivers, they always give me a free one. I've NEVER had any problems with them.

I highly recommend Directv. I wouldn't use any other sat. provider.

6. When I signed up for them, I got a free dish and free installation.
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 03:45 PM by BrklynLiberal
All I pay for is the monthly charge for the programs.
What is the $450 for? Where do you live? I am in NYC.
I have not had any problems with them. I have used DISHTV for about 7 years, and they even gave me the free new dish when I moved, no problem.

I opted not to go with DIRECTV since they are one of the RED companies.

7. I would have to buy
equipment outright, essentially.

Consider yourself lucky. Because, eventhough DISH is blue, they treated me badly. :-(

8. Don't feel bad. My credit sucks right now.
Fortunately, I subscribed to Dish Network long before my credit went down the drain. Any satellite or cable service is going to do a credit check. I wanted to switch to Comcast because I was having problems with my dish reception and they said they would have to a credit check. So I just stuck with satellite despite outages during storms and bad weather.

10. Thanks for that
bad credit sucks. And it's partly my fault.

After I got divorced I never wanted anything to do with a credit card ever again.

I have two debit cards now and they work fine. And I'm looking at buying a used car so I won't have to apply for a car loan.
