Great quote about cats!
Its easy to understand why the cat has eclipsed the dog as modern America's favorite pet. People like pets to possess the same qualities they do. Cats are irresponsible and recognize no authority, yet are completely dependent on others for their material needs. Cats cannot be made to do anything useful. Cats are mean for the fun of it.
--P. J. O'Rourke

8. that quote to me sounds like a slam on cats and people who love them
it evokes the tired old sterotype of cats being unfeeling, selfish critters incapable of expressing love.

I will kick HEyHEy's ass.

10. I disagree 100%
My friend said women were like cats and men were like dogs.

So so so so wrong.

Dogs/Women: "Hey! How am I doing? Are you happy? What are you thinking? Do you love me? Are you sure? Really!? You're sure you love me? What can I do to make you happy? Please tell me you love me! You're not out with another dog/woman, are you? Penny for your thoughts. You still love me, right?"

Cats/Men: "Less talk, more petting. Move over, pet me now. Where's dinner? I don't care what you're thinking just so dinner is in the dish/on the table. Of course I love you, I stick around, don't I? Why do you always have to ask?"

4. I like this one . . .
I read it about 30 years ago in a book somewhere. It has stuck in my mind ever since. It goes something like this:

"Even the tamest domestic house cat is always stalking the jungle's edge."

That attribute is one of the reasons cats are such fascinating creatures. It's easy to see that they were domesticated by humans a lot more recently than dogs were.

9. Oh please, they're not domesticated
They just hang out with us because the huntin is easier. If they don't like the food, they're history

5. God made the cat so man might have the pleasure of caressing the tiger.
Quote from I can't remember where, but which was the source of the title for a nifty National Geographic special about cats ages ago.
