My Mammaw died this mornin'.......

...she had heart attack.....she was in a nursing home because of a stroke she'd had back in October of 2000 after surgery to remove her left eyelid and eyeball from a diagnosis of cancer in it...she never got a second opinion which I'd begged them to do...instead within the week of being diagnosed because of Medicare she had to travel 300 miles for the surgery....they released her from the hospital after only 4 days with her whole eye orbit still barely healed...after traveling back home...she went to use the bathroom and had a stroke after being home all of 10 minutes...she stayed in a coma and the doctor told my family she was brain dead and would be a vegetable...so my southern baptist family decided to just *let her go be with Jesus* instead of getting a second opinion AGAIN...they literally starved her out of the coma...after a WEEK of no IV's or feeding tube..she came out of the coma...my Mom asked her if she was hungry and she nodded YES....she was paralyzed on her right side....she never regained her speech...all she could say for the last 5 years was BYE BYE...but could nod and shake her head to communicate....my Papaw stayed at her side every day until his death a year ago last December....he literally broke his heart trying to figure out why GOD did this to them.....and died of a heart attack eventhough he'd never had heart problems before in his 82 years....I hope they're back together again in the heaven they beleived in so much....RIP Mammaw....your wayward *lost* liberal grandbaby loved you very very much.

Funeral services for Ms. Doris Jarvis Bell, 84, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 14, 2005 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel in West Monroe, LA, with Dr. James Parker officiating. Burial will be in Hasley Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Ms. Bell died February 12, 2005 at the Oaks Nursing Home.

Ms. Bell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmer ville, LA.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James "Dick" Bell; son, Paul Randall Bell; four brothers and two sis ters.

Survivors include her sons, Jim Bell and wife Cheryl and Glenn Bell and wife Carolyn; daughters, Marsha Powell and husband Ron; sister, Obeline Ragsdale; ten grandchildren and seventeen greatgrand children, and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideon's Inter national.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM

until 8:00 PM Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
