I'm Taking the LSAT Tomorrow
I'm slightly freaking out about now. I'm taking the friggin' LSAT tomorrow. I have always tested very well, and I've taken the GRE and GMAT for two different master's programs (only finished one, the MBA).

But this seems harder, and I'M SO MUCH OLDER!!! I am out of practice, and I'm actually worried about this one.

Please wish me luck.......

P.S. I don't want to be a scummy corporate lawyer or anything, I'm thinking about constitutional stuff (dream: election law!).

:scared: :dunce:

1. Good luck.
I took it on the December date. I'm hoping to go in 06, I think.

Did you take a prep course?

5. No course
Just a couple books with strategies and practice tests.

My excuse is that I'm 33, and it's widely accepted that "older" people who have been out of school for a significant amount of time tend to score lower. :)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Older? hahahahahahahaha!

edit: Sorry, was that rude? 33 just doesn't seem "older" to me anymore I guess. :P

13. It's not rude!
Thanks. I guess I'm feeling "older" these days. Are you thinking of applying to the big-time law schools? I live in Columbus, OH, and am just applying to the local ones.

14. Yeah, local for me too.
I don't wanna go anywhere; I already own a house here! And there are two night programs in the area so I might be able to keep my day job and go 4 years instead of 3. We'll see.... it'd be nice to get out with no debt, that's for sure!

15. I did my MBA part-time
So I fully understand the advantages (and disadvantages) of going to grad school part-time while you maintain your career. However, I quit my job over the summer and have been thinking about what I would like to do with my life, because I wasn't finding satisfaction in my career. So I'm considering/planning on going full-time.

Hello student loans!

12. Don't buy the hype
I did the self-prep through books and tons of practice tests for the GRE when I was 29. Raised my scores (I had taken the test shortly after college) - by several hundred points - including one hundred on the Analytic part (very close to the LSAT). Went from decent scores to great scores and got into the top program in my field in the country (world). Don't buy the hype. If you test well - and have prepared (for me that included taking many practice tests - just to get the "loosening up" under test conditions and timing) you should do well. All done without a "course".

7. Best of luck.
Try to get a good night's sleep. I couldn't get to sleep the night before mine and was punchy during it. Oh well, I did OK anyway, and I'm sure you will too.

16. You will do fine.
Worrying never helps anything. Trust yourself to do good and leave it at that. You know you can do it. Just remember to breathe, as my mother would say.

18. Good luck. You'll do fine. Hint: keep your pace and you'll get all the
questions. And use clear prose for the essay.

And keep chocolate nearby for the break and after the test.

40..40..40..40..will be your score.

20. I took it at 39
And will be graduating at age 42 in May. YOU CAN KICK BUTT ON THIS EXAM!!!!

Get a good breakfast - I ate both protein and carbs. Read the paper to get your mind going, but do not study in the morning. Take headphones and a snack to eat at the break. Do not be around others who are discussing the exam. Make sure you watch the time and pace yourself.

For the Reading Comp section, you need to be fast AND precise. I can't advise on Logic Games; I sucked at those. The writing sample isn't that heinous. And the Analytical section isn't too heinous, either.

Don't panic - just go in with the confidence that you can do it. As someone who is facing down the bar exam in 5 months, I have to heed my own advice, but now I dispense it to you. GOOD LUCK!!
