HINT: The lead singer of this band is no longer with us, and he was a black Irish man.

You SHOULD be able to guess it from THAT clue alone, even WITHOUT the air guitar. Many, many people still love this band and cannot get their "fill" (devious, thinly-veiled SECOND clue)...

I actually had a friend when this song was a hit who used to sing the guitar part as "wunna wunna wunk, wunk, wa nunk"...
