ok, serious- Why would my kitchen faucet lose pressure-but nothing else

Everything else works fine. What do I do to fix it. I turned the valves off, maybe to build the pressure back up

1. hot and cold?

you could have a blockage in the faucet. It could be rust or hard water.

2. Check for Leaks

That might explain a pressure drop in one part of the house, but not the otehrs.

3. Just try taking the end apart

and find the strainer. It's likely just a bit clogged up. Old style faucets the very tip of the faucet just unscrews. On the faucets with built in hoses, the strainer is usually at the point where the handle meets the hose.

4. Pipe break along the way?

Do you have other water devices on the same level (same floor of your home) as the kitchen? Like a toilet or a bathroom sink, perhaps.

Are the other faucets/toilets/whatever at a lower level of the house than the kitchen? Perhaps the water supplier is experiencing a drop in the pressure of the water lines. In that case, the highest point of your house might possibly not get enough pressure in the line to push it up to the faucet.

There may be a water line break somewhere in your neighborhood.

5. unscrew the aerator

(it's right on the end of the faucet) and try cleaning it off. sometimes rust and minerals collect on the screen and clog it. Look under the sink to check for leaks. But it's probable a clogged aerator.

11. This is my guess too...

we get a lot of sediment, etc and when the aerators get blocked it's like a lack of pressure.

6. The airiator isn't airiating

That thing on the end of the faucet that actually puts air into your water as it flows out of the faucet - that isn't working.

Hey, get a Brita filter attachment for your faucet instead of a replacement. That's what I did - $34 and I get fresh filtered water for the coffee and tea pots, as well as the cooking.

8. So you're saying that part of the faucet is working?

The sprayer would come in on the same water line as the rest of the faucet. If the sprayer is working, then that would indicate a problem with the faucet itself, not the water line. Do you have a dishwasher in the kitchen? If that works properly, then I'd i.d. the faucet as the problem.

10. Your filter is clogged.

Unscrew it, soak it in vinegar, rinse it and re-attach.

14. Yep it's clogged with lime

white vinegar will eat the lime up, there should be a round white disc with little holes all around, this is what forces the water into a fine jet. More than likely all the holes are clogged by lime, take it apart in order so you'll know how it goes back and soak the disc in white vinegar over night.

13. It's probably the faucet check the sprayer (if you have one) and

the dishwasher if both of those are working fine then it could be the faucet itself. Possibly the aerator or the screen.
