I'm so depressed!

I always feel sort of weird talking about personal stuff on a message board, but I'm just really feeling low tonight. I've been trying to stay upbeat today but I just can't do it anymore.

I walked into work today to find out that my job, in fact everybody's job in the department is in jeapordy. We had a big shake up at the corporate level with audits and bean counters etc. and people have started getting the axe. Nobody knows how many of us will get canned, but it sure has put plans on hold.

The big dissapointmentis I was going to head down to Dallas Saturday and sign the deal and pick up a 2000 Lincoln Continental I was going to give my wife for Valentine's Day. I guess I should be thankful the news didn't come next week after I had committed to buying the car.

I guess it's just the fact that we were doing so well and all of a sudden, wham! I pissed off a freeper the other day who mouthed off about how well I appeared to be doing under *Bush. I told the SOB I was doing well IN SPITE OF the *Chimp's economic disaster because I refused to give up and kept working hard.

Damn these korporate jackals to hell! I guess their thirst for more and more will never take into account the lives of the people who actually produce and provide their riches.

I guess I really should count my blessings because there are a lot of people really suffering in the world. I just don't feel like it tonight.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

You are extremely lucky that you had not yet signed the papers on that car. Hang in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When will you know something for sure about your job?

3. love your username!
That's been my mantra all the way through two terms of Reagan, Bush 1 and now Junior's reign of terra.

The worst part about this thing is that we don't know what is going to happen or when. We might not get the axe but it doesn't look good. We are just in limbo biting our nails right now.

5. Don't feel too bad.
At least you thought of your wife and were going to do something really nice for her. Hate to see anything bad happen to someone who is a caring person.

6. this was
the first time since we've been married that I was(or thought) I was in a position to give her a big expensive giftm for Valentine's Day.

I did have an ulterior motive though. I want my truck back!

8. Hehe
well, still it's a nice thought. She take your truck or something? My stepdad has a truck and I never thought I would be a truck fan, but I have to say, I like them now that I have seen how you can use them to carry big stuff around. Your screen name? Is that as in guitar or something else?

10. well
it's kind of a joke about the truck. I bought a big 4 wheel drive 2000 model Ford truck back in '02. Then my company transferred me from Tulsa to Oklahoma City, which is a 90 mile commute one way. Her car was crapping out and I needed a highway car to commute with, so I found a used '95 Lincoln Mark VIII to commute in and she wound up with my new truck. I've pulled her leg ever since about her wrangling me out of my big shiny truck.

13. Lol
Well, I hope things work out so you can get her the car any how. Maybe you'll get a better job making more money if things don't work out where you are now. I hope. Here's wishing you and your wife the best.

7. Downsized Last October
And I found out last month they're closing the whole department. 40 employees, 20 professionals, out of work.

The problem is working for a big corp. No job security. They suck you dry, they cast you off, they send your job to another country.

Take a deep breath, do some Internet job hunting. You'll get another gig soon. Meanwhile, keep up the exercise and postpone buying the new car until you know what's up with your income.

11. thanks
I can always go back out on the road if I can't find anything else. She hates it when I do, but I can make some decent money. There is always someone calling trying to get me to go back out and play some music with them. I have a recording studio biz I'm trying to get going too, but It isn't quite ready to sprout wings on its own yet.

15. Thanks everyone!
For helping me feel better last night,it is nice to know there are real people out there that actually care about other people.

I feel much better today, I just ordered this for Mrs. GTRMAN, overnight shipping. It isn't the Lincoln I wanted to buy her, but I think she'll like it. At least I hope she will.

16. GTRMAN, my heart goes out to you. I try not to start each day off
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 08:40 AM by MrsGrumpy
by thinking what if, but so many times I do. What if my husband loses his job? What if we had to sell the house. This president has put us in a pickle. At these times, I wake up and think how, no matter how bad it gets, they could never take away the love my husband has for me and I for him.

Speaking as a wife, I think the best gift you could give her this Valentine's Day is to pull her into your arms, thank her for choosing you, tell her she's the most beautiful, and important person in the world to you...

These are the gifts that mean the most to me...

True story, I never realized just how much Leonard (MrG) loved me, in fact I questioned his love, until the day I looked up from a hospital bed and saw this man (who never cries, always "walks it off", and can seem devoid of emotion at times) standing there with tears rolling down his cheeks because there wasn't anything he could do...

Your wife is lucky to have you in her life.

Laura

On edit: I think she'll love what you ordered her! I love mine! Even if it has only the priceless string necklaces my children have made for me over the years hanging from its pegs.

17. Thanks Mrs. Grumpy
You just helped out it all into perspective for me.

Mrs. GTRMAN never had a lot growing up, she had a really rough childhood as a foster child since her biological "parents" were the worst kind of garbage imaginable. I have always wanted to give her the most and best I could, and the job news has put a real wrinkle in those plans.

You're right though, it's people that matter the most and not things, we'll live through it, we've been through a lot worse together.
