10. I vacationed in Drake for 14 years straight. LOVE the state.
I was dismayed over this. Coloradoans can be conservative, but they always were a "live and let live" type when we were going there. I made many local friends, going to the same town every year for vacation.

I recall that at the time, possession of less than an ounce of pot was a traffic ticket offense there. Like $35 fine.

Sigh. Things HAVE changed.

9. Dammit
It's a good album, but it should've been tons better.

I love the way "Achilles' Last Stand" establishes itself-- Page was great at the Guitar Army stuff-- but the guitar solos are just weak. Same with "Nobody's Fault but Mine;" starts out unbelievably strong, and then squanders all its energy.

I know Page had to finish everything in a few days-- he borrowed the Stones' mobile studio, and they wanted to start recording in a week. But the debut album was recorded in *two days*-- and it's better.

My opinion, and worth every penny you paid for it!

14. Something to consider...
...Robert Plant got into an accident the previous year before it was released, and it had been a little over a year since their last album. I think Page's heroin problem was starting to over take him.

22. What kind of
What kind of whip did Pagey use when he would get in kinky freak mode with 14 year old girls?

And doesn't Percy's voice suck on For Your Life? Sounds like a dying cat. Can't believe it's the same guy who recorded We're Gonna Groove a mere decade before.

23. You mean Robert Plant?
Well, his voice did change but that was also right after a major automobile accident that Robert Plant was in.

24. Yeah Plant
His nickname was Percy thanks to some English gardener or some such thing. His voice was on a steady decline before the car accident. I have a live "import" from 73 shortly after HOTH came out and the shift and there is a DRAMATIC change in his vocals there that is really evident on tracks like Song Remains The Same.

25. Why does Achille's Last Stand go on...
...for over ten minutes? The opening (and as it turns out , continous) riff is great but after awhile I wonder was it really necessary to convey the message in so long a time?
They could have shortened it and included a couple of shorter songs...But other than that I consider this their "art rock" album...
