Who are the biggest sports disasters in *draft* history?
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 11:48 AM by Richardo

I think the nimrod playing center on the M*A*S*H team (on Hawkeye's right) was pretty inept, even though he walked in for the winning TD.

:D

1. Mike Junkin
Marty Shottenheimer took this linebacker out of Duke in the first round for the Browns a few years back. He said he was "like a mad dog in a meat market", and "he's one of the two best linebackers I've ever seen" infering that the other was Lawrence Taylor.

He was just plain pathetic in the little playing time he had, and I think it was his 1st or 2nd game, he fell down and broke his wrist, and could never crack the line-up again. When Marty went to K.C., the best trade the Browns could engineer for him was a 4th round pick, and he never made the team there.

2. My Bengals...
...passed up Jerry Rice and took Eddie Brown instead...D'OH! (The Jets also passed on him, taking Al Toon).

3. Sam Bowie, the number 2 pick in the 1984 NBA draft?
I know there have been worst players than Sam Bowie but to know that Portland could of had the best player in basketball history instead? That's still got to hurt.

4. Brian Bosworth?
Don't remember his pick number, but what happened to his NFL career?

18. Even Before Any Injuries
he was a shadow of his tough-guy image. I remember his getting flattened by Bo Jackson at the goal line despite Bosworth's being in perfect defensive position. Bosworth was a great self- promoter -- I have to hand to him on that.

8. Indeed.
How could I forget that one? Especially, being from Arizona, my Cardinals actually made an, albeit rare, decent move by trading that spot to San Diego.

7. Todd Marinovich.....
in his case NFL meant...Not For Long....

Todd entered the 1991 NFL draft and was a first-round pick of the Raiders.

I love MASH, though the worst drafted player was Spearchucker. He didn't make it past the first TV season.
