Cartoon from the Cleveland Plain Dealer today re: NASA
This would be funny if it wasn't so shitty. My father worked there for 35 years and retired a few years ago. It was called Lewis Research center back then. They are cutting 700 jobs out of the 1900 or so because georgie wants to walk on Mars or some shit. In the 80s reagan was trying to get it closed down, but it was saved by the Dems here in Cleveland.
Good going Ohio for supporting this piece of shit that calls himself the president, you get everything that you deserve. Unfortunately, NASA is in Cuyahoga county and we didn't support the boy king.

1. That sucks
My uncle worked there for decades and retired a few years ago, like your father. He's long been the most RW member of my family, but he's lately been teetering on the fence - I can't help but wonder if this will finally swing him away from the dark side.

I haven't seen the PD yet this morning - how will CUTTING jobs out of NASA help W pull off a manned Mars landing? I can't parse that at all...

3. Good thing for me
My father has never been RW. He is a bit conservative on some issues mainly because of his age and the fact that he was also a Marine for 25 years, but we agree on many issues and he is very open minded.

2. I have grown to hate the Plain Dealer
Dick Feagler is right on, but since they decided to endorse Bush despite a 5-2 vote by the editors in favor of Kerry, I have little use for that paper.

4. I only glance thru it at work
I haven't bought that rag in at least 10 years. When they used to call me I would tell them what I think of that piece of shit and they don't call me any longer.
I also think Feagler is right on, but the owners and the editors are a joke.
