Ever eat "potted meat?"
I did when I was little. It actually tastes pretty good, but the trouble starts when you read the ingredients. It includes "hearts." Yuck.

27. Vienna ("Wiener") can contain practically everything
They were originally created by a Frankfurter in Vienna; that's why the protected name "Frankfurter" is sometimes used for Vienna sausages in Austria.
While original Frankfurter are 100% pork filet, Vienna Frankfurter or Vienna sausages are allowed to contain almost any type of meat. And that's "real" Vienna sausages - I can't say what may be in generic viennas.

18. damn that's pretty nasty
you mean brain material and stuff?

I had pork brains before. A long time ago, like 15 years ago, me and a friend got real drunk, and we thought it would be funny to go buy the most disgusting thing at the store for supper. We got pork brains and put them in some scrambled eggs. I think we enjoyed them but only because we were drunk and hungry.

21. Visual Spam....

Though I post this in jest - I don't touch the stuff. I do, however, understand it fed a lot of allied soldiers in WW2 - it was a staple, and an important nutrient to the lads on the front lines. So I will give it that much.

25. Is "Underwood Deviled Ham" considered potted meat?
If so, yes, I've had it many many times. Not too bad on a sammich, with lots of mustard and a glass of Zinfandel (in my special Hamburglar glass) to wash it down with. The trick is to NEVER NEVER EVER read the ingredients list on cans of food, especially things containing meat. Trust me. You don't want to know.

And quite tasty too. Good pogy bait--just liberate a few slices of bread from the mess tent, whip up a few deviled ham sandwiches, and you'll think you're in garrison.

It's just meat.

Okay, hearts are really only good as fish food for large cichlids, but some people eat 'em and they're fine. My dad loves elk heart.

34. No, but I made a movie about it
On a late night Shoprite run in HS, my friends and I discovered potted meat food product. We wound up making a movie on it....went to the one corporation that made it (we were yelled at by a woman with a German accent), had a kid eat it choreographed to music, interviewed kids at school about it (had the valedictorian on tape saying she'd eat it...lost some respect for her after that), etc. I need to edit another copy of it, the good copy was taken by my friend's Korean roommate last year when he moved back to Korea. No wonder they think Americans are dumb.

Anyway, we also made this website http://pottedmeat1.tripod.com

Incomplete. With it an abode of bliss.

That's Leopold Bloom's ad from Ulysses....I've had potted meat. Like scrapple, it's one of those things better reminisced about than eaten.
