1. hurts my ears
Hitting high notes just because you can? Not so cool with me. But I understand he is a very generous educator.

10. Nice to see you back

My dad had a Maynard Ferguson album when I was a kid. I remember it because he did the Star Trek theme song on it.

3. Yes to some
he's an aquired taste and debaser of music with a the high work. There was just something about his sound that struck me when I first heard him live in high school. I had never listened to music like that before. I was an still am in awe of his talent.

4. Brings back great memories.
I've seen him in concert twice.
Late 70's.
At the time, he was a tremendous supporter of high school music programs. In fact, both times I saw him, he played mouldy old high school gymnasiums in central Minnesota. It was a rare and awesome treat.
Excellent showman...lots of flash. And a hella good trumpeter.

My father was a jazz trumpeter. I cut my teeth on this great stuff.
Ferguson would turn bright purple. Almost technicolor.
Good times.

7. Thundering Herd?
I thought that was Woody Herman.

I can't remember the name of Ferguson's band.
