Re; the wardrobe malfunction - Husband and I pretty much agree
on most all news topics (political or otherwise)..

However

He thinks the wardrobe malf. was just awful and in bad taste(and yet he's the first one to have his tongue hanging out when a girl with short shorts runs on the field and lays it all over the screen).

They did more crotch shots at the halftime but go figure....a tit is a tit.

My rebuttals haven't been effective, cuz I think he thinks I'm jealous or something (we are 59 and 67..)....

I think they are making a mountain out of a molehill (nipple)
and he thinks it's awful? I don't get why we disagree on this crap.since it's NOT really worth fighting about.

I see more lewdness in commercials - the same commercials that our 15 grandchildren see every evening (ages 1 year to 19 years). The 6 years old know more about sex than I did at 18 years old.

End of rant

1. To me it was not
the boob it was the act that appeared to have a young man ripping off a young womans blouse (or whatever). When I saw it happen my first thought was that this looked like the beginning of a rape scene but that never seemed to matter, it was all about Janet's boob.

2. We both watched it at the time and didn't notice it
I heard about it hours later on a radio show. Then of course I saw millions of replays, but at the time, didn't notice a thing.

5. A beautiful sight
(minus Timberlake) in another setting, but I agree with your husband.

That kind of thing is the thin end of the wedge (well, I suppose that was introduced a long time ago). Time enough for children to lust over the opposite sex in their teens and pre-teens, but surely there will have been a lot of infants watching. In our schools, loony atheist councillors have been trying to impose sex sex education on infants from the time they learn to read. It's already official, although at the teacher's discretion.

7. I can't help feeling that
reference to "standards" sounds pompous, but the fact of the matter is that, ultimately, they are of paramount importance; if for no other reason than the fact that no matter how low standards are set, there *will always* be individuals who choose to descend below them.

And people are impressionable. If enough people make light of virtually anything, many other individuals will assume that it is harmless; and then the way is paved for the acceptance of a new "low".

8. If only we reacted to violence in the media like we do sex
the world would be a better place. A tit's a tit - what's the big deal?

unless there are additional silicone implants, and then they're tits with supplements.

But it's interesting that seeing part of the profile of a woman's naked breast (side rear view) in an advertisement, is routine today, yet when I was a youngster, those shots blew my mind. Yet, today, there is a much higher incidence of rape by individuals in this blase younger generation than there was then. And if I'd seen some of the stuff on TV then that there is now, I'd have gone blind or died of exhaustion by the age of eighteen. I wasn't a Catholic then, but an agnostic.

For those who believe in a psychic spiritual dimension, a funny thing happened, I suppose about a year ago. I was flicking through the channels late at night, and lingered longer than I should have on some shenanigans on one of them. And the cat, a few feet away on the floor, looked up at the handset and hissed at it like mad. Which is strange, since it was me who was operating it. It wasn't the handset's fault! Anyway, I suppose the cat was reminding me to "avoid the occasions of sin". Catholics will know what I'm talking about. I seldom flick through the channels late at night now, though.
