Damn SIMS 2 Just brought my 6yr old to tears.
Her person just died in a fire and now shes crying. She said she didn't have enough money for the fire alarm.

I feel so bad. Her older sister knows the cheat code for extra money, and I forgot it, and her sis was still at school.

Now her SIM is dead, maybe I shouldn't let her play it.

Stupid pretend people

3. At least she's learning the difference between virtual death and reality.
and teaching her to cheat on money isn't very good so why don't you have her Sim get married as soon as possible, have children, then get a virtual divorce and collect virtual child support and build a new house with her virtual settlement. One WITH fire alarms.

8. Same thing happened to my five year old....
...had bad dreams about THE BAD MAN IN GRAY for a couple of weeks.

We're sticking to virtual paper dolls at the moment.

(It did however make her want to go to school after her kids were taken away)

9. Awww, poor kid
I'd personally say that 6 is a little young for a game like that, but if she's mature enough to handle it . . . in any case, maybe use this as an opportunity to talk to her about fire safety? :shrug:

11. My 8 yr. old freaked out when her first Sim died too.
In a fire. The sad thing was that I was out of the house at the time, and she was with my mother and brother. They were beside themselves trying to console her. I did not really understand the game that well, or I would have never let her play it. We all felt bad.

Fast forward one year, she now plays the Sims Bustin' Out on her Gameboy. It seems like the worst that happens are that Dusty Hogg and Uncle Hayseed end up in jail.

I think the cheating code is Shift + Ctrl + C + rosebud + ; + !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This should get you a few hundred thousand bucks. The number of exclamation points increases the amount of money in your pot.

help -all = List cheats
exit = Closes cheat window
expand = Expands cheat window
autopatch (on/off) = Informs you if there's a patch
moveobjects (on/off) = Move and delete objects
vsync (on/off) = Improve performance (may causes graphic tearing)
StretchSkeleton = Make Sims larger or smaller
aging (on/off) = Turn on/off aging

Don't forget to hit ENTER after typing in the cheat

26. WooHoo and green farts is NOT worth another $100 bucks
Besides, I never let my Sims marry, I got bored with their progress too quickly and find grusome ways to kill them off. I wish they could fall from the second floor, that would be a hoot. Or have the dog piss on them when they're sleeping.

31. Its interesting the way different cultures deal with death
Western children are so protected from the idea that when it hits them they are horribly unprepaired for it. There was (still is) an electronic game called a Tomegotchi. It was a little simulated electronic pet invented in Japan. You take care of it and it grows up. If you don't take care of it or neglect it, it dies. Falls over dead. Gets a little grave stone. Dead.

But when they brought it to the US they couldn't market it that way. US kids just don't deal with death so well. So instead of croaking they had it turn into a little angel.

36. For awhile I was horribly addicted to the Sims.
I killed a few of them by accident. First they starved, then the new batch set their house on fire. Then I got the game where they can have pets. The pets make messes, but I couldn't bear to kill the pets. Just the people... I guess I'm evil.

37. It's sad that she has lost her Sim but it is an opportunity for
a lesson in class dynamics and how people of various socio-economic situations experience life in America. Yes, poverty kills.

I know someone who had a couple who took her under their wing. Her real parents were for crap and this couple took a liking to her and let her basically live at their house during the summers. This was in the 1970s.

They lived in rural Jefferson County Missouri and were required to buy a fire sticker or something like that. For one reason or another they had not gotten around to buying one for that year (either they didn't have the money or it skipped their mind). Their house caught on fire and because they did not have that sticker the fire department turned around and left.

They lost their house.
