What's the difference between Rush and The Hindenburg?
One's a flaming nazi gasbag, the other's a zeppelin.

5. The really sad thing about zeppelin travel is ONLY the fuel used
We could all travel by air safely if the Germans had NOT started WW2. The zeppelin was a GREAT invention it was just that hydrogen was VERY flammable and helium was not. Germany did not have helium and wanted to purchase it from the US for use in derigables (sp?) and it would have proven to be the GREATEST way to travel EVER invented!!! Maybe even I would fly in a helium derigable (sp?)...I hate airplaines..their shape and seating and everything about them gives me claustraphobia...give me a derigable with a 'smoking lounge' I would be happy as a clam in the air. Like on a train! I LOVE train travel!

6. Hydrogen is not very flammable
While it will indeed combust in the presence of oxygen and a source of ignition, oxygen is the greater culprit. That's why you should be very careful around people with oxygen tanks. Oxygen is highly reactive and will react with almost anything.

The Hindenburg was coated with aluminum paint. Powderized aluminum, as found in aluminum based paints, is highly explosive. Given two explosions side by side, hydrogen and oxygen or aluminum and oxygen, you wouldn't notice the hydrogen one by comparison.
