Teen tutor loves teaching

NEW PORT RICHEY - Seventeen-year-old Adam Clum has wanted to be a teacher since, well, forever.

It could very well be in the genes or at the least the environment the Mitchell High School senior has been brought up in.

"I come from a family of teachers," he said after conducting a tutoring session in the media center at Anclote Elementary School. "My mom, dad and stepmom are all teachers."

Besides that, he says, "I just love working with kids. It's awesome to have them look up to you. It's nice to be able to teach them things they don't know."

TARPON SPRINGS - A Pasco County teenager is in police custody, accused of molesting a 7-year-old boy.

Adam Warren Clum is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation. Police arrested him Thursday morning at Tarpon Springs Elementary, where the 17-year-old is a student volunteer.

According to investigators, the crime took place around the holidays while Clum was helping a second grade student in the computer lab. The father of the victim found out about the incidents and reported them to police.

Clum is a senior at Mitchell High School in Pasco County, where he was named the volunteer of the year for 2004-2005 school year. The son of an Alclote Elementary School teacher, he had modified his schedule to be able to spend more time volunteering with kids.
