Hopefully they are better this year. I will pay more attention to the half time show though.

and 1950s like....Fox rejected an ad by one of the beer companies for disparaging Anheuser Busch products.

Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 11:59 AM by mike_c
Where adults are paid astronomical sums to bash one another and act like children trying to run with a ball while others try to stop them? No, I won't be watching.

“Two things only the people anxiously desire—bread and circuses.” Not much has changed.

13. With all nods to Sir Paul, I think not....
The half time show is sure to be so "pure" that I'm afraid Focus on the Family will be sending subliminal messages to hate gays and Falwell, to send (him) $$$$. NOt even any chance of a "cutting edge" commercial...

I want my country/my society back....The superbowl is everything about excessive captialism and very little about sport, IMO...

22. Whether for the 'Bread and Circuses' or the Advertising
I won't be watching the game. Professional sports are just a diversion from the issues that really matter, and I can't muster even a modicum of give-a-shit for whatever team wins the big, big prize. Watch the game in order to see the latest scams corporate sociopaths have ready to unleash on consumers? No thanks!

26. If you guys were to BET - EVEN A DOLLAR it would be MUCH more interesting.
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 12:17 PM by FormerRushFan
When I was in high school playing a pool for a DOLLAR, I found it AMAZING how interested I'd get into a game with teams I'd otherwise have NO interest in.

The thing I find so funny is all the ILLEGAL wagering on sports, today being the peak of the year.

Betting DRIVES the sports industry. If illegal betting were enforced, we wouldn't be building 700 MILLION dollar stadiums with taxpayer dollars...

If there were NO BETTING on sports, all of the "hoopla" would be but a SMALL FRACTION of what it is, and all of these sports would turn into: SPORTS, and not the media hype machines they've turned into.

31. football.......boring.........
I realize that it brings a great number of people pleasure to watch this game and that's great...have a wonderful time.....but for me.....it has always been boring.......just the same old thing over and over again....a few good plays sprinkled in here and there....but for the most part just grind, grind, grind, a few yards at a time, over and over and over.....boring.........

33. Not me
I have to write a paper that is due tomorrow and for some reason I am having a little writer's block. Guess I should have been working on it during the week. LOL. This working fulltime and going to grad school part time kind of sucks.

So no, I doubt I will catch much of the game. I usually don't unless my team is in and since they haven't been since, oh, about 1977, I think, I rarely pay much attention.

38. why should I watch a game with two teams representing places I've never
been to in my whole life? Especially since the players probably never lived in those areas themselves until they were recruited, and would be happy to pick up a go elsewhere for a few dollars more. The loyalty the average fan has for his or her team amazes me, especially since the players, staff, etc., don't have the same loyalty.

39. I'll be observing but not watching
Not into sports much, but being a New Angland-ah I'll be rooting for the Pats.

Plus I threw a few fives into several office pools so I have a vested interest in the game.
