Any Windows ME users in here?
I just learned how to get rid of that stupid Restore Archive, and restore space on your computer! It's a beautiful thing!

1. What do you think the cornerstone of Windows XP is?

System restore. If you needed to get rid of restore to make space, it's time for a new computer. New computers are as low as $399 from Dell with a monitor. With ME as unstable as it is, getting rid of your restore archive was not the brightest of moves.

Oh, a big PS, Microsoft no longer offers support for ME. It's like, so last millennium.

2. You know, computer people keep telling me that
I have been on this computer every single day since 2000; number of crashes? zero.

I don't play games or download anything. I got rid of the old restore archives, not restore....it's still running.

3. Security updates are minimal at best

If you have any documents or photos, archive them off the system. When it goes, it's not pretty. One more thing, if it breaks, the cost of repair won't be worth the value of the computer. Even buying WIN XP upgrade for $99 isn't worth it. Even having the battery on the motherboard replaced.

4. I do not keep photos or documents on this computer
If it breaks, after 5 good years, wouldn't you say I got my money's worth? Incidentally, when I bought this computer it was refurbished--not new--I paid 400 dollars for it.

5. One last point.
If you can drive a Mercedes for the price of a Chevy, and get the same value, isn't it worth it?

6. I drive a used Subaru
and no, I would rather have a good used Chevy than a Mercedes....I perceive Mercedes as kind of snobby.

I prefer to be kind of downwardly mobile, and not too much of a consumer.

7. Fine, I guess being snobby about not being snobby is ok too.
