2. Is this related to the tripping over things thread?
I often say excuse me to things I run into. trees, doors and the like. Even people sometimes

but it did start me meditating on the subject.

6. great minds think alike
I was thinking the same when I saw that thread. :-)

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

5. all the time
Edited on Sat Feb-05-05 08:56 PM by amazona
I trip and fall all the time for whatever reason, and I'm just in the habbit of saying, "Excuse me, excuse me," so yeah, when it's a piece of furniture, I still apologize. It's just habit.

7. I also apologize to plants a lot
Especially if I'm trying to prune out deadwood and I get a live branch by mistake. Or I accidentally knock a leaf off one of my houseplants while I'm watering it.

When you klutz your way through life, you just get in the habit.

9. Yes.
I got laughed at in college for apologizing to the garbage can I bumped up against. I've done it since, too. I'm kind of glad to see this thread. I feel a little bit better about it, now. :)

11. I Remember Seeing Mary Tyler Moore Do That...
... to Lou's desk.

Personally, I've never apologized to an inanimate object, but I've certainly CURSED at a few that caused a painful bump or stub.

20. My reaction depends on the body part.
If it's just my thigh, it's "Ooph!"
If it's the knee, it's "DAMN!"
If it's the little piggy toe (which it usually is) it's..."SHIT!...OOWWW...FUCK!!! JAYSUS CHRIST! SUNUVABITCH, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!!!"

But never "EXCUSE ME".:D

"Objects" and "things" and "furnuiture" and "silverware" etc.
carefully watch what we do and communicate with one another on a
constant basis.

32. Only occasionally
Most of the time that we stub our toes on doors or furniture it isn't us being clumsy, but rather is part of furniture's grand-plan to take overthe world. These are not accidents but rather deliberate attacks.

33. No, but I often say so to plants
I saw a documentary about plants many years ago and the scientists were able to measure a reaction from the plants when touched by people walking through the greenhouse.

Okay, I said it...just don't tell anyone, okay?
