Another ? about tipping....pooling tips....
I have a friend who worked at a casino. She is very much a people person and I can tell she was good at what she did. She worked the good shift, 8 to close. The rule then and now was that all tips were pooled and shared among the people on your shift. Well, not everyone worked as hard as others and their tips reflected that.

One night one of the casino regulars did very well (won several thousand dollars) and my friend was given a $400 tip. She had to share this with 90 other employees. NINETY! There was no way she could pocket it and even if there was it is not in her character to do such a thing.

I think it's unfair for people to have to pool all of their tips. If my friend is better at her job than others, and services the casino clientele in a more friendly manner, doesn't she deserve to reap the rewards? I think she should have been able to keep the $400 tip.

She quit shortly after that because she was demoralized.

1. What about the people who don't get a chance to interact with the customer
? The back room folks? They help your friend make hose tips don't they?

2. She only had to share it with the people
who worked on the floor (the other casino hosts and those who walk around filling drinks...they DEFINITELY interact with the customer). The people she and others had to share their tips with all had DIRECT customer interaction.

4. she should have
been free to disburse the tip as she saw fit - ie tip those that helped her the most better than those who didn't have anythign todo with it.
