Maybe a month or two beforehand, make sure you buy a quality car seat or two and install them at least a few weeks before the due date - two seats if you have 2 cars... or have them professionally installed (we took a class at our local hospital and they said that 95% of non-professionally installed car seats were installed wrong.) Our then-local police department had a person do it for us.

Not sure what the laws are in VA, but I know some areas won't let you take the baby home without the car seat installed.
