OZZY Wrestles Coyote to save 1 (of 2) family dogs
Don't yell at me but I found this on the Freep
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-12376347,00.html

Ozzy Osbourne's wife hailed him as a hero after he wrestled a coyote to save the family's favourite dog.

The rocker tackled the predator when it got into the garden of their Beverly Hills mansion and attacked Pipi, Sharon Osbourne's beloved Pomeranian.

"Ozzy heard the screams and fought and got Pip out of the coyote's mouth," she told American magazine US Weekly.

The dog made a full recovery following surgery....unable to rescue the family's black chihuahua, Lulu, which was killed by coyotes.

1. Lulu takes the dirt nap? NO! Ozzy loved Lulu!
I remember watching Ozzy singing to Lulu on the Christmas episode..."Lulu is my girlfriend, love her till the end-end,Lulu is my lover, love her like no other!".

That's gotta suck.

3. Very sad fact of life here in the Southwest.
I've chased coyotes out of my yard more than once.

5. The brief article mentions hanging poisoned chickens on their fence

11. I have no idea...I never heard of that.
I'm in a completely urban area. They literally trot up the street. They come into town from the hills when conditions are bad for them there. I've never felt in danger, and I do everything I can to make sure there's nothing for them. Except for my poor vulnerable bunnies who live in a hutch. Coyotes have jumped the fence to try to get to my bunnies. I yell and scream, and squirt them with the hose. So far so good. I could never hurt one in any way so I hope one never comes for me.

4. Now they know where their cats went...
Last night MTV broadcast a new episode of the Osbourne's. During the show, Ozzy was shown looking for some of the family cats that had gone missing. Toward the end of the program, they showed a coyote running across their neighbors tennis court. I guess they can stop looking for the cats. :(

9. that's cruel
Cruel to leave your dogs at the mercy of nature. Perhaps if you live in coyote country, you should build a kennel to protect your dogs.

Typical human arrogance, expecting nature to conform to your ways with the pull of a trigger. Your dogs were the victim of your folly, not the coyotes.

The coyotes dug under my fence. They are getting to be a real problem here. I do agree though that there should be a better way to capture and remove them.

You don't have enough information to start calling me cruel.

12. Did he bite the coyote's head off?
I'd hate to lose a pet to a coyote, or to anything like it, and I feel for him and his family.....a lot. But I also feel for the coyotes, mountain lions, and other predators into whose turf we're rapidly expanding at a still-increasing pace. In such areas, pets need to be kept indoors.

Heck, even unguarded young children have been attacked in suburbia in broad daylight - we think our technology and ranch houses isolate us from nature, but we're wrong. We can only divorce ourselves from her to a certain extent, and beyond that can rest tragedy. Of course, in the divorce itself is tragedy enough for the entire biosphere....
