It seems that both the left and the right have their favorite whipping boys from the other side, and they're usually represented by either the extremely wealthy or the extremely poor. Both sides tend to be rather unforgiving when it comes to these stereotypes.

I'm just pointing out that we all tend to paint with a rather broad brush. I spent a little time over the weekend lurking at the loathsome CU, and realized that they have ridiculous stereotypes about all of us. When I came back to DU, it occurred to me that we do the same thing.

Most of us here don't talk about lazy liberals, but we almost all talk about dumb freepers or greedy repukes. Dig what I'm saying?

I see it often on DU. People who refer to women "fake", "dumb", or whatever based on physical characteristics. It's silly. It's old. It's tiresome. It might even make someone feel incredibly self-conscious if they have the characteristics that others view as evidence of their stupidity.

Hair-bleaching, make-up-wearing, leg-shaving, living in a pretty-nice-house-kinda person, married-type, middle-aged-type, child-rearing, bleachers-sitting-half-the-dang-weekend kinda person, sports equipment-haulin', suburban-van-driving, red-stater, really-red-county-dweller, pedicure-lovin', mac-n-cheese cookin'...Plainly a dippy Republican soccer (or is it "safety") mom.

That's me, except for the dippy Republican part of the stereotype, and it's not soccer this season. My mother is laughing her ass off at how I look to the world. I have been learning not to judge a book by the cover. Many would dismiss me at once, by superficial appearances.

I know that not all Republicans are greedy but I have know quite a few who live up to the stereotype. Their political philosophy let's them rip people off without guilt. :(
