Husker Du on the Joan Rivers show in 1987
I'm just now getting around to converting old videotapes and live shows and tv clips to .mpegs and dvds and such. I have such gems as Fear on Saturday Night Live, Public Image Limited on Tom Snyder and the aforementioned Husker Du on Joan Rivers. Although decidedly less contentious than the other two, Husker Du on Joan wins for sheer oddity. Particularly when they go over to the couch and she makes small talk with them. "So who's the wild one....who's the calm one?"

So bizzare.

1. Ever see Motorhead on Leno?
They did a song (tore the place up) and then Lemmy went to the couch. Edie McClurg was the previous guest (Planes, Trains--Ferris Bueller...) and as they introduce themselves she says "Pleased to meet you Mr. Head."

"Please, call me Motor.

:D

2. I remember hearing about it....
But I never actually saw it. It sounds priceless.

PIL on Tom Snyder though takes the case. The mutual contempt and animosity just leaps out of the screen.

5. Yup. With Bowie. They played "Funtime".
A friend in California's grandfather was the director on Dinah Shore and recalls vividly filming it with disbelief.

8. Yes - I've seen a clip of that
I might actually have it in my collection of video oddities. Down in the basement of many delights.

4. Got any Mike Douglas shows?
He had a lot of (for the time) cutting-edge acts on his show, including Devo and Kid Creole and the Coconuts.
