What's stupider than owning a Hummer in the U.S.?
Owning a Hummer in the U.K.! My husband's family just had a neighbor buy a Hummer. I guess he had it imported specially. Now, for anyone who has never been to England, the roads are much much smaller than U.S. roads. Not to mention gas can cost about $7 per gallon. And to top it off, apparently the guy shelled out even more money to get the vanity plate "Hum 1" which would be hideously expensive because England really doen't have a vanity plate system like ours. So idiocy goes beyond the sea I guess.

2. a 17 yr old owning one
a kid at my daughters HS got one for graduation (in May). He drives it all over town and every time i see him hes lead footing it with a bunch of other spoiled ass kids in it while talking on their cell phones. WTF do they have to look forward to and what incentive will there be for them to work for anything?

3. I can't get over how many of these monstrosities are in Chicago.
I've been looking for the mountainous terrain one would ostensibly use these gas guzzling obscentities for in Chicago...but, darn it, I haven't found such terrain as of yet.

Maybe it's men with tiny penises buying said vehicles to feel better about themselves. Yeah, that's it.

11. Terry! You Don't Know Where The Mountains Are 'Round Here?
Geez, you need to get out more. You can see the mountains every direction you look in Chicago! Oh, wait. I'm thinking of Switzerland. Never mind.

13. Maybe they're in Indiana, Prof.
I never get a chance to make it to far flung places like Indiana.

Yeah, that's where the mountains are.

15. They aren't that great in mountainous terrain....
From what I understand, if you go off-roading in a Hummer, you better hope there's a Jeep around to pull you out.

4. Driving or riding
in one in a war zone.

These toys are dangerous in any war anywhere.

BOTOH The rich kids riding as described in the above post would look even more cool dressed as marine green fighting machines in Iraq.

Won't they have fun.

5. A Hummer isn't entirely stupid.
If you owned a cabin in the mountains that was 20 mi from the nearest road a Hummer would be useful, otherwise -

7. The consumer ones don't even operate that well offroad though
to get to your cabin in the mountains, you'd need the much more expensive version.

9. I particularly despise
the Hummers and mega-SUVs driven by suburban women who are maneuvering these monsters with one hand and yakking on the cellphone with the other hand. Freaking deathmobiles.
