After one year, time to bid farewell to Ann Coulter
http://www.goerie.com/

you have to register but costs nothing, hope i posted this right.

<snip>
Starting Monday, Erie Times-News readers will notice a change on the op-ed page. Conservative columnist Ann Coulter has been replaced with conservative columnist Michelle Malkin.
<snip>
Perhaps Erie Times-News Editorial Page Editor Bryan Oberle sums it up best when he says Coulter simply did not meet our standards. We gave the always controversial syndicated columnist a year on the op-ed page — an election year at that — opposite outspoken liberal columnist Molly Ivins. But Coulter, it seemed, did not only not meet basic standards for excellence in writing and commentary, but seemingly met no journalistic standards for civility. Apparently, the vitriolic Coulter has none.
<snip>
"It was with great reluctance we turned over the column space to Ann Coulter," Oberle said. "We understand she already had a loyal following, but her columns are more exercises in grenade-throwing than column-writing. There is a mean-spirited tone that dominates all her columns." Looking back, Oberle said, "The final straw came during the election when she attacked triple amputee Max Cleland, stating so matter-of-factly that he wasn't a war hero but was instead some sort of fraud. Enough is enough."
<snip>
There's plenty more to say about Coulter — her description of Muslims as smelly, her shrill hatred of all Americans who do not agree with her, and perhaps her most infamous comment shortly after 9/11 that "we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

<more>

Hopefully more will drop her and rid the papers and news of a P.B.F.H. (pyscho bitch from hell)

2. Michelle Malkin
isn't much of an improvement. I saw her once on Bill Maher -- she's almost as bad as AC.

7. . . . and say hello to Michelle Malkin
Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 03:59 PM by Jack Rabbit
One hysterical racist replaces another, so big deal.

I don't know who the Erie Times-News carries, but there are conservative columnists who use something resembling discursive reason when making their case. Even Charles Krauthammer, with whom I never agree, puts his case in a clear, straightforwrd and organized way that I can appreciate.

10. Except that he hasn't had an original thought in 5 years
His columns always seem to parrot the GOP theme of the week.

13. There is a question of who is parroting whom
Krauthammer has been known to consult with Republicans. For example, perhaps you are aware of this?

So, the question is: to what extent is Krauthammer parroting the GOP's talking points and to what extent is he the author of them?

I think that is a fair question, but not a terribly important one.

12. No, Michelle Malkin isn't that much of an improvement.
But, at least Coulter has one less venue for her hate.

14. Why don't they have Ben Stein write a column?
I might read that. I heard a while back of an idea along the lines of Hannity and Colmes with Al Franken and Ben Stein. That would have made for good tv.
