Never leave the Oreos out on the table if your dog likes them
Just a friendly word of advice. There is now about a pint of fresh Oreo flavored liquefied-poop on my bedroom carpet.. and my wet vac isn't charged. :(

My house just smells oh so lovely.

1. Ugh. Hank has eaten a whole pan of brownies before ...
But being the cast-iron tummy he is, nothing happened.
Surprisingly.

3. I thought chocolate was poisonous to dogs?
Our dog did the same thing with fudge brownies and had to have his stomach pumped.

9. Hank doesn't know he's a dog.
So I guess the normal canine dietary rules don't apply to him. :silly:

13. Is Hank part beagle?
My beagle Sadie doesn't know she's a dog either. She once ate a baggie of foil wrapped easter candy...baggie and all. :)

5. Our first dog
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 10:08 PM by bushwentawol
had gotten into a chocolate bar, one of those bigger ones used for fund-raisers. She ate the whole thing and nothing happened. But give her Ken-L Ration canned Liver dinner and she'd feel it for a couple days after. Or any canned liver dog food for that matter.

4. I've done that research already..
She'd have to eat 12 ounces of pure dark chocolate before it became toxic. I'd guess there is about 1/4 oz max in Oreos. She'll be fine, but my carpet wont.

10. Update: The night from hell
Well I figured out later that both my dogs ate the Oreos. The evidence is in the poop. Well, my older dog vomited and had diarrhea about 8 times last night. I've been working on cleanup for the past three hours.. It's looking like my carpet is totalled. :(

That was one expensive bag of Oreos.

BTW, she's fine now. I think it's finally all pooped out.

12. I had a dog who preferred chocolate chip cookies to steak!
When I was a kid, I (my mom, to be precise) had this Belgian Shepherd (the breed's now known as a Belgian Malinois) named Brandy who died of cancer when he was 12, and I was 17. The reason? His craving for chocolate chip cookies.
He would turn down filet mignon for chocolate chip cookies. My mom kept giving them to him as a treat; she didn't know any better back then. This information that chocolate can kill a dog came out years later--after her beloved Brandy had to be put to sleep. :(
