The Young Ones
Any fans of The Young Ones, that British series from the early eighties. I was revisiting it last night with friends and I was surprised to see how well it held up over time. Those guys are geniuses and I think Ben Elton is one of the most underrated comedy writers ever.

I know the guys went on to do shows like Ab Fab and other series, but whatever happened to Alexei Sayle? He was fucking amazing! ;-)

1. Alexei Sayle
Alexi Sayle still does a stand up routine AFAIK, famed for his ramblings on Mussolini. Probably his most infamous role since the Young Ones was when he replaced Bea Arthur in the "Golden Girls" spinoff "The Golden Palace". It sounds bizarre and it probably was.

He's appeared in a few films including one of the Indiana Jones films IIRC. I think his main activity now though is writing; magazine columns, several books, etc.

2. He was in a Golden Girls spinoff?
That sounds deliciously twisted and wrong. I'll have to look that up and see if it's available to rent.

That explains Sayle's short-term involvement with the show. Pity it didn't work though, but Sayle's comedy style is radically different...

5. Abso-Freakin-Lutely!
The Young Ones kicked so much ass, they'd still never dare show anything like it on this watered down shit american tv.

Same goes for The Dangerous Brothers.
