2. Unlikely
the "metallica page" link exists at scoopthis.com, if it were a real article, why not just link the genuine metallica server and news article?

5. Because I wrote them off after "Justice"
I'm not interested in what they have to say for themselves, after they won a statue on MTV Video Music Awards and their heads swelled 6 times their original size.

3. WTF! I thought this was an Onion article.
This can't be serious...

Never liked Metallica. Definitely have no regrets now, and after their RIAA supporting B.S.

4. I hope the estate of some classical composer
who composed something in one of those keys countersues them for plagerism.

I used to like Metallica-"Fade to Black" is one of the most beautiful, depressing songs ever written. I love the S&M disc, along with "Ride the Lightning". They've become jerks in their middle age.

13. Funny article
and even though I dislike them as people personally I actually like the new one quite a bit.Crunchy riffs and not a poofy shirt wearing guitar solo to be found anywhere on the CD.Now if we could just get James to not sing and make fully instrumentral songs I'd be overjoyed.

Of course the fact that everyone else on the planet is jumping all over them makes me like it even more

37. He he
I can't help feeling that way about music I like - hey, reviewers, one more mediocre Michelle Branch review and I'll have the album cover framed in gold. :)

Back to the subject: Metallica is unbelievable! If successful, this kind of thing could flood the court systems with trivial lawsuits. I will never buy a CD from them again. I don't care for what I've heard from the new one anyway (metal must really be suffering if Metallica can't add a bit of invention.) I'll still keep Master of Puppets and The Black Album.

14. Down with Metallica!
How can anyone claim ownership to sound notes. The E and F chords and every other one are not owned by one person. They are heard in the millions of song around the world. Metallica: Truely a bunch of MorAns.

If they want the right the the E and F chords than I want the right to the number 5! Ha, Ha, Ha!!!

Please don't base your response on the unlikeliness of the article... has it definitely been refuted somewhere, with a link you can post?

They both affirm the story! Earth to Lars, put down the mic and report to law school!!! If this IS true, these guys are some of the biggest a-holes to ever walk upright!!! And the lawyers representing them are, well, you pick your own nasty methphor!!!

then my apologies to anyone that I said differently to.

And if it is then Sars Ulrich gets the award for Arrogant Ass O The Year hands down.

I still like the new CD better than anything they've done since "Justice",but damn,Sars and James are a stupid couple of twits.SHUT UP AND JUST PLAY DAMMIT!

Look at the URLs, the links to MTV and Metallica's site are actually on the scoopthis.com site, and the band being "sued" is Unfaith, which Erik Ashley of scoopthis.com is a part of.

35. Metallica can do what they had written on a concert t-shirt 15 years ago
Anyone remember "Metal up your ass" with a nice picture of a dagger-wielding fist coming up out of a toilet?

Metallica is just insane.

They're against Kazaa and all that, too.

I've seen them, and they don't exactly come across as being very bright either. (so it was easy for the RIAA to bamboozle them, could Metallica think up something so ridiculous like this on their own?!)

But I still pity them. They're just poor, sad and misled people.

What next, I wonder...

36. Ok, Time for a true story
The holder's of John Cage's work sued somebody for 30 seconds of silence on a CD. John Cage wrote a work 4 minutes and 32 seconds. Its basically 4 minutes and 32 seconds of silence. Its fully scored. The performer even has to turn the pages as the peace proceeds.

The objection came over a 30 second span of silence on a CD used to seperate some music. They wanted more space than normal for the shift in mood so they included a track of 30 seconds of silence. Since the track shows up on the CD info they attributed the silence to John Cage in memory of his peace.

The copyright holder's won the case.
