1. "3D" UIs are counter-intuitive, bloated eye candy
They look great (to some people, sometimes), but have you ever tried using them? Absolutely horrid - clunky to use and usually incredibly slow.

Maybe someday Apple will come out with a "3DUI" that is easy to use, looks great, and make sense.

2. I don't know, it looks like its on the right track...
Sure its looks pretty, but as far as the demonstration goes, when you see it, it looks both usable and fast, though I don't exactly know what the minimum specs would be that are required. Also, I would imagine that even though it only says it is Linux and Solaris compatible only, that you could possibly install it on any X-Windows Capable system, like MacOS X, with a few tweaks of course.

6. OK, so I tried all of those when I had windows...
slow, buggy, and unusable come to mind. The architecture in windows is far too restrictive for applications of this type, without serious microsoft intervention or release of code(like that will ever happen).

4. Pfeh. Some games have used depth-based GUIs.
They look nice, but don't show any real advantages over a 2d screen layout. No advantage. No selling point.

8. OK, I see 3D effects, maybe authentic or not...
Along with window transparency and shadows. This means what again? I have those now on my system now, with Xorg X windows system. I don't see the windows or applications being treated as 3D objects, for example, can you flip the window over and write a note for that file?

10. Why do I need this?
Will it make things run more smoothly? I just prefer performance over "Wow, does that ever look COOL!"

For the record, it DOES look cool, but I can do without it.
