2. I agree -- he was an amazing song writer.
I was listening to his "greatest hits" on my way to work today and, for some reason, that line stuck in my head.

"Accidentally like a Martyr", "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner", are just a couple that come to mind. Mr. Zevon sure could tell a story with a song...and man, that voice!

It's the Zevon tribute album featuring Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley, Jacob Dylan and many others -- even Adam Sandler doing a terrific cover of 'Werewolves.'

Listening to it, I realize I totally failed to appreciate Warren's music. I know all the words to 'Werewolves' -- and still think "His hair was perfect" is one of the funniest lines ever. But there was SO MUCH depth and feeling and quirky perspective to all of his music, so many other songs that I'd never heard... *sigh*.

What a loss. :(
