Anyone use CD-cassette adapters in their car?...................
I have a factory stereo system in my 98 Subaru Legacy wagon and it is finicky about accepting my cd-cassette adapter for my Mp3 player. I push the cassette part into my player and sometimes it kicks into tape mode, but most times it ejects the adapter (accepts adapter one in every 15 tries or so). So I then tried it with an audio signal going to the adapter and it still doesn't consistently work. I would leave the adapter in permanently, but I kinda like listening to my radio as well.

Has anyone else had this issue? Would it be something that a thorough cleaning could fix? Could it be an inferior CD adapter?

:argh:

1. When I was using those things I had to replace them often

The cogs have to be able to turn the cassette rollers.. if there is any resistance, the player will eject the tape.

try spinning the cassette rollers with a pencil to see if there is any resistance.. there may be a piece of dirt or something like that causing resistance.

I'd buy a new adapter, or maybe look into FM Modulation.

EDIT: added link to a modulator..

2. get a fm transmitter
you can get little transmitters that plug into the audio jack on your mp3 player, or diskman.. well anything with a mini plug.. it then sends out a fm signal for your stereo to pick up (you can adjust to what station on the device) they are pretty cool, and not very expensive.. and the sound is great..

here is one from radioshack

the one i purchases like 5 years ago was cheaper then this one.. so look around
